Spray Gun Adjustments Video
Sorry I deleted the thread when I tried to insert this video in the thread but anyway here it is...
I can adjust the gun when there's base in it. However, with the clear coat, it's coming out real clear, and is see thru on my test area, how do I know the settings are good on clear???
I tried to do it by putting in front of my face and do a 'side spray', to see how wide the pattern is and see the atomization, but it is not working well. I can't tell if I have enough fluid going thru or too much.

Any tips? Yep, tip size, be sure you use the recommended tip size from your product technical data sheet. You make your final adjustment with the speed you move the gun and the distance you hold it from the target to get the material on the way you want it. Adequate light is very important. It is nice to have enough lights shining so that you can position your head in such a way that you can see a reflection of a light where the material is hitting the car. When you are seeing a nice wet line moving under the gun without sandy looking dry spots, things should come out nicely. Slow down or stop and you get a run. There isnít much room for error when the gun is spraying. Proper movement goes hand in glove with proper gun setup.
To answer your question more directly, donít look at the fan from the side to judge it, hold the gun in front of some masking paper and momentarily pull the trigger full open and then let it shut again vary quickly. You should see a nice uniform wet line with a little taper at the top and bottom.
Good vid, but what about adjusting the pattern after actually spraying it on the wall, ala Mr. Sr?
You may need to adjust further but spraying on the wall may or may not indicate a problem. The only pattern adjustment is either vertical/horizontal and/or pattern length that can be changed at any time, as needed, during the spraying operation. To tell you the truth I haven't sprayed on the wall for about 30 years so I'm not sure how valuable it is or what it can change in the adjustments.

very nice ! really good information .
Great Vid. Thanks for the great site here!! Lots of great info. I played with my gun last night shooting thinner through it and this method appeared to work awesome. Once again thanks for the help and looking forward to shooting some paint now to test it out.
