Default Newbie Question-Laquer Primer & Paint

Hello, I am wanting to paint my '65 F-100 using acrillic primer and laquer. I have never used laquer before, but will be painting smaller sections at different times. Is there any problem painting laquer over enamel? I know there are some drawbacks to laquer but really want to use it. This is a backyard restoration but still want to avoid any problems. I appreciate your thoughts, Ken.

Yes the major problem you will have is lifting if the enamel isnt 100 percent cured

Thanks 200horse, currently the truck is primered, I would say it has been primered several years. I understand there was a repaint in the early 90's. Does this help/hurt the chances of curing?

You may get away with it if you use a fast drying thinner in the lacquer but I would do a test section first. Pull off the tailgate, prep it and paint it to see if it's going to give you trouble.

Thank you Len, that sounds like a good plan.
