Default High Solids Vs. Med. Solids clear

When we talk about high vs. med. solid clears what is the major difference between the two. What is easier to work with and gives the best sanding results? I have always just used either Omni when I used ppg or DuPont Nason now that DuPont is closer.

    Thanks

I used to use a 4:1 clear from Dupont. Now I use the Nason high solids clear (2:1)
With the 4:1 I would always apply 3 coats. With the 2:1 I only apply 2 coats to get the same film thickness.

Some times the mix has nothing to do with a clear being a high solids,it usually means what percentage of solids is left after the solvent evaporates.Generally the MS clears are going to be easier to spray but you can also have more "pinching up or a leathery look" after a period of time depending on brand.A HS clear can be a little more difficult to spray but it will also give you better hold out and gloss retention.HS clears don't flow out like a MS,you need to spray them how you want them to look.As far as sanding and buffing I have never really noticed much of a difference.I use sikkens products ,HS+ clear mixes 3:1:1,Superior 250 clear Mixes 3:2:1,Lesonal glamour clear mixes 2:1:20%,and they are all HS clear coats.
