    Default Bumper Damage

I am looking to sell my 07 VW City Golf, but I have some scratch damage to my bumper from a piller in a parking garage. There isn't a dent its just scratched and is about 6 inches wide and about 3 inches long. I know absolutely nothing about cars and am wondering if it can just be buffed and painted and if so, how much should that roughly cost?

Count on at least $400...if your lucky!

It depends on where it is on the cover, they may want to blend the fenders too (depending where the damage is on the cover). You will probably find guys willing to do it for less but you likely wont be happy with the results. If you post some pics we might have a better idea of the damage.

Here are a few pics of the damage. The one titled front ps is the one mentioned. The other ones are driver side damage.

looks like a huge chunk is missing on the edge, needs a new bumper cover in that case, in which, I take back my sarcastic remark

I think we (the readers) are all a confused by what you're trying to accomplish.
You have a decent sized scratch damage in one area of a bumper and then you have a large chunk missing also from a bumper. The scratch damage can be repaired for around $400 - $500 but that chunk out of the bumper is not economically repairable (technically ANYTHING can be repaired, just depends on how much money you're prepared to spend in that repair). If you get a new bumper cover from a dealer you could easily spend upwards of a thousand dollars for the bumper cover itself, then it must be painted (they don't come painted) and then still pay to have the old bumper removed and the new installed correctly.

I guess what we're all thinking is why repair the scratch damaged area when there is a large chunk missing that won't be repaired ?

Don't forget you still need to have the new bumper painted and the cost will probably be about two to three hundred dollars.
