Thread: paint booth question

  1. #1

    Default paint booth question

I have a bumper and dent shop at a fixed location in Calif.
We paint bumpers panels and light t/up work.
    No completes or collision work.
Does anybody know if portable work stations or one that comes to mind
is www.Islandcleanair.com can be compliant or alternative when just doing
    small work.
I am hearing in January2010 fixed locations will have to have a paint booth.
I defintely see their reasoning with all these backyard painters going in business but for us compliant guys just doing small work its hard to justify a
$10,000 spray booth especially if we are using HVLP t/u guns etc
I guess it can boil down to local regulations and what they allow but i guess I was looking for someone that has mabey been here done that and knows
what is acceptable with the EPA maybe in there area.
    Thanks

I agree with 200,you could pick up a used cross flow booth for $4000 or so.It might be a good investment, just in case you have to paint a whole side or a complete.

It would really limit my work space.I guess if I had to but was hoping I may not have to.

If you need to pass any safety inspections you'll probably need to have a standard booth but without inspections you can have whatever suits your needs.
