A really neat project. An awful lot of work, but the pleasure you will get from using it can't be measured.

Neat project. A true labor of love! 8)
Well I got the hood, cowl and valence panel installed, what a PITA doing it alone and trying to get everything aligned. But I've got a problem. I put the hood springs on which raised the hood to it's full height which was above my garage door when it's open. Came in yesterday morning, promptly opened the door right into my new hood paint job!! Got a nice gouge in the front lip right down to the metal. So what do I do now?? My thinking is since it's on the lip that has a break point I can get away with just doing the lip. Sand and feather the gouge, hit with epoxy then 2K until it's level then BC and CC. I'll put the tape line just below the break line with hopes of sanding it down with 1000 so hopefully it won't show. What do you pros think? Will put up a pic this morning.
If ou have a peak or an edge to tape on you can use 3M's Smooth Transition Tape along the edge and you won't generate a paint ridge. We use this tape a lot and it works better than anything else on the market, you end up just rubbing lightly with some compound to make a perfect transition.
Just got it inspected and aligned yesterday so only have about 10 miles on it but I can tell it's going to be a fun truck! I have a couple items left, installing the bed deck and fabbing aluminum running boards. The front bumper is all aluminum and the outside sections of the rear bumper are aluminum. Hard to believe this turned into a 5 year project!

It really has turned out great . Don't forget to post just how it does out on the road .
MPG ..top speed .. and 0 to 60 and anything else you can come up with .
Mooch
Looks great nice job.
That turned out awesome. Really cool build. I would also be interested in any updates you could give.
Thanks for the compliments! I'm installing the bed deck today and getting it Linexed on Thursday then order the aluminum for the running boards. I had that pesky scratch in the front lip of the hood that I managed to do the day after I painted it. I took care of it by buying one of those plastic hood protectors so have to install that. I just sanded the scratch and used a small brush for epoxy, base and clear. never see it once the shield is on. More than one way to skin a cat, don't tell PETA, I could probably get sued these days..
