My 68 f-100 project

I bought a 68 f-100 about 9 months ago and have been getting it road worthy
and today i started the body work and decided to start with the floors, the previous owner decided to do some home brew repairs. I figured i would
start with the bad stuff first so i started prying up the patches and its a good thing i did. The previous owner said they wirewheeled the floor the put some rust treatment on before putting the bootleg patch on, well he lied go figure. Its bare metal under the patch, good thing i ordered floor pans i just need to get the rest of this garbage off of the floor oh he also used window caulk to make sure it sealed real good. Here are some pics from today i hope to have this side off tomorrow.

Patched over existing rust and bare metal, and used window caulk to seal? Definately signs that Bubba was there. It always puzzles me the mentality of people that do that kind of work, whether on their house, their car or whatever. Skill level is no excuse. A flat out beginner that cared about quality and a job done to the best of their ability would do a far better job.

I like what you've done with getting it road worthy and keeping the stock 6. Looks like it might have been an old Road Commission truck (orange).

The guy i bought it from said he was a paint and body guy and he made the repairs and painted it at the local trade school. I cant believe they teach these kind of repairs at a school i knew it wasnt repaired like it should have been. The paint just flakes off if you pick at it and he loved that bedliner stuff and its hard to get off. I crawled all over this truck before i bought it and the only reason i bought it was
because the cab was in pretty good shape. These truck in my area are normally rotted out in the drip rail area and this one is not. I have completely replaced the entire brake system even the lines, all the rubber has been replaced. The tranny was rebuilt the motor was in great shape it just needed a complete gasket change. I can say that there isnt one area on this truck that i didnt have to touch so many repairs were made its to many to list. I just ordered a
dewalt polisher/sander so i can take it down to the metal because there is no telling whats hiding under this orange paint. Here are some more repair pics of the core support from the previous owner i had to buy a new one.

Just a good example of how the teacher was there for the money not to teach the right way to do it. Or the kid got lazy. Keep the pix's coming looks real good. Love the engine set up.

Well i finally got the patch out and the the bad part of the floor pan cut out.
I was looking at the cab mount and its got some surface rust but nothing bad
i will clean it and treat it with rust converter.I start poking at the kick panel and i notice it looks funny so i hit it with the air hammer and guess what i find a fiberglass patch right over the rust hole. I cant for the life of me figure out why they would not cut the rust out before they try to repair it.PICS.

Yeah, Bubba loves that stuff. It hides his shoddy workmanship. Are you planning to buy repop floor pans and weld them in? That's probably the best way to do it given what you are working with. I don't think they are too expensive.

Yeah i got floor pans and cab corners from lmc i think the pans were 40-50 bucks.

Well i thought i had found all the rust on the drivers side but it went in the door jam as well so i took a break from the project for a while. I got the rest cut out today and started getting the door jam put back together. The previous owner just put filler over the rust didnt even bother to cut the rust out or put any rust killer on it.Here are some pics.

is that the 300 or is it a 240 cause i have 69 f-100 lwb with a 300 and i love that motor

Thanks for all the comments its a 240.
Well finally got back to my project and got some more of the door jam back together. I also found a small rust hole below the kick panel vent with some more caulk filling. More to come its starting to cool some what so i dont have to work in a sauna. I should have this side of the cab finished by the end of the week.
