Could be your gun pressure too. I have the same gun and I liked spraying with it at 20-25 psi with the trigger pulled.

Yes Cross fire will be a big step up from the crap you used. I would probably if you have time sand off the stuff you already sprayed. If not sand it with some 600 grit wet and spray the new stuff over it.

You can get Matrix refinish solutions for 90-100.00 a gallon and it is good paint for the money..That being said something is wrong with the thinner or mixing of your paint.....Paint gun setup or the Man Pulling the trigger
Paint for cars paint while cheap does go on and have a shine..FOR A WHILE

    Something went wrong.

I just came across this thread, I just ordered the Urethane kit and had the same problem. I mixed 8:2:1 just like it said and it seemed to thick and would splatter when sprayed with HVLP gun and i was getting bad orange peel effect. I thought maybe it was my gun cause it was one i never used so i switched to a siphon and it still was to thick but laid better, so i added more of the reducer to thin it and sprayed it with the HPLV gun again (only one coat) and the orange peel effect was gone with a smooth shiny finish. Im not experienced in painting and just learning so i invited a friend that has over 20yrs behind his belt to check it out. He agreed it was to thick by the recommended mixing ratio. And informed me that i got better results with the siphon gun is cause it has a 1.8 valve and not the 1.4 like the HPLV. He is coming by tomorrow and gonna do some spraying for me. I'll inform everybody of the results if you like.

P.S I also had the gel effect when added thinner, not tried the lacquer. Used the reducer from kit to clean gun.

Automotive paint products are a very competitive business and when you buy cheap paint you get cheap paint. It won't have the support and it won't spray or hold up as well as higher priced products. When it's a "no-name" product it's probably just a cheaper paint that is purchased in bulk and private labeled. I'd recommend that you but a BRAND NAME product like BASF, DuPont, PPG etc from a reputable supplier that has technical information available for the products they sell. It may cost you a couple bucks more but it will be worth it in the end.

    Angry Disappointed

Beware..you get what you pay for. I used their product base coat clear coat. and after the cae was painted ,and cleared we sanded the car buffed it and then the clear peeled off like sheets of wax paper. Spend the extra cash and buy a quality product.
On another note they did stand behind their product and gave a complete refund on the kit price.
