Alsa has a clear for chrome that works on bare steel. You can check it out HERE.Originally Posted by Lucypaints

To the best of my knowledge the Harleys with that effect use clear powdercoat on the metal. This is the best base for ground metal effects and seals the metal better than any clear. Just scuff the powdercoat and go from there.
I always wondered about that. Anyone know what grit to prep bare steel for this?
Why couldn't bare steel be treated with several coats of bulldog then cleared or just use clear base then clear?
I was thinking that bulldog is more of a solvent that softens plastic so that paint sticks to it better. Are you saying that it makes an adhesive film that works on other substrate? Maybe I have bull dog mixed up with some other adhesion promoter.

Bull Dog highly touts itself as making paint stick to anything....be it plastic, chrome, paint, primer......I would like to see a test. I like Bull Dog.![]()
