    Default Dadspackard 1931 Packard

I own a 1931 Packard Std 8 833 Coupe 468. It has been in the family since 1958. My Great Uncle owned it before my father purchased it from him in 1988. Dad did some work on old Bessie (that is the name my friends gave her) when he own it until he passed away in 1996 and left it in my hands. Well fast forward to roughly 2005 I had some engine problems and you know what happens once you start tearing things apart one thing lead to another now I am at a full down to the frame restoration.

Photos of my progress are in the link below

You need to post a few photos on the thread so we can see the work, looking GOOD!

I hope these are the photos of the car! If not tell me and I'll delete them. But just run your mouse over the photo and then just copy the "IMG code" and paste it here.

    Brian,

Thanks for attaching them and will attach more as I progress/

Yes that is old Bessie in SPI Gray HB on the shell and the other one is the Golf Door with the color I will be painting the lower half of the shell with. The top and reveals and fenders will be painted in a SS Black.

I do have a few question to ask but will post later on in the other forums when I get close to laying down the paint.

Here is a picture from the 2001 Saint Pats Day Parade in Lemont Ill.

From here it looks like you're doing a great job. Are you planning on sanding and polishing? Some of those body shapes can be tricky to polish.

    Len,

Guess I will have to since I did the rumble seat lid a week ago and I did one door last night. You can still see some wet sanding scratches at certain angles :o I think Rob said something about hitting it again with the wool but I did and seems not to help. Where do I go from here?

Some of the edges are thin do I need to respray them or can I use a touch of brush?

What about little chips by the hinges see they are a tight fit and from playing/tweaking the door last night I have a few spots that chipped.

The lower right edge of door rubs up against sill? Had this same issue even before I started the restoration and new sills put in :o

Hey I have to say a big thanks to Rob for showing me via web cam on how to buff yesterday. I am no where near as good as him.

    Some updated photos after buffing.

This one I used my air brushing skills.

Not really but I think I will print this one off full size and hang it in the garage

You may need a better filter system. There is a dog stuck in your paint!

    Car looks really nice.

Thanks. When I was taking the pictures he (Harley is his name) happen to walk by. I thought lets see if I can get him to sit for a second and shot the car with his reflection in it. That one is without flash. I have one with flash also. Pretty neat I thought.

Not sure what happen a double post there. I deleted the second one.
