Disposal of left over paint material

So then, what do you guys do with the left over paint from your gun?
I sprayed some on saturday, had some left over so I filled a plastic bag with a bunch of scrunched up paper and poured it in there, along with the spent thinners from cleaning the gun, then tied up the bag. I just put it around the back of the garage for the time being. It stinks though, still after 3 days the smell of it is noticeable as soon as you go round there.

I need a better way, suggestions?

I pour all of my waste/leftovers in the empty cans that they came from. They seal quite well and keep the odor at bay until you can drop them off at your local toxic waste depot.

I set them out in my shed uncovered. After a while it evaporates and your left with a hockey puck in the bottom of the can. That goes in the garbage. This works for a small amount.If you have a lot you should have someone like Safety Kleen hook you up with a waste barrel that they will pick up when it is full.Thats what i did when i had my small shop setup.

Why not save it ? I have even cataylized uro that survived a year in the same can it came in.

can't imagine it would be much use after a year when the pot life is only 6 hours or so once catalysed, surprised it hasn't turned to jelly or rock in there.
My latest bunch of left over got poured into an old oil bottle, not sure what i'll do with it now but hey at least my yard doesn't smell like a chemical plant any more.

What we do at our shop is very simple.All of the left over catalysed paint goes into empty primer or tinter gallon cans and when it goes hard you can throw it out.The thinner that is used to clean the gun goes into a 5 gallon thinner pail and gets recycled when full.Works great and the garbage man does not complain.

thats pretty much what I do. Uncatylized products are saved (base coat) catalized products are tossed out and dirty thinner ie re used as fuel for my controlled burns. (I can burn certain trash where I live)

in some areas they have waste oil/paint reclamation, you can turn it in for recycling/disposal- or put it out for the trash, it will end up in the landfill

Don't put any liquids into the trash. You can allow the to evaporate in a sheltered outdoor area or you can allow them to harden then trash them.
