Tom, if the existing paint on the VW is good then why would you want to spray 2K primer over it ?
The car is several different colors. I've peiced it together from several different cars. Not sure what kind of paint vw used in the 60's and i just want to make sure that its ok to put this primer over it.

Yes, you can put primer over it, it was originally painted with acrylic enamel. If it's in good shape I'd probably prep it for paint then hit it with a sealer before spraying my top coats. Primer is usually used to remove surface imperfections or directly on metal to help with adhesion. It's usually not necessary to apply primer on top of paint unless there are surface imperfections.Originally Posted by firefox9

Thanks for the info

If you don't need the "fill" of a 2K, consider putting a couple of thinned
coats of epoxy on it. Epoxy is an excellent sealer, increases adhesion,
and will give you an overall color consistency.
I buy mine in white and black so I can make a shade thats
more compatible to the paint color.
