It may seem like its more trouble to take apart but the way your doing it uses way more thinner than i would and also taking it apart just insures me that theres not a speck of anything left in there...
Also what did they tell you on if you could paint straight over the featherfill G2 or not?

I have a vehicle that I want to do that color scheme with. I will be using straight black on the upper part but I would like to get as close as I can to that orange. Is it Ford competition orange...

Subject Pretty much says it all. I was just curious to see what the hourly rates were around the US.

I've currently never used and of the poly primers, always stayed true to my 2k primers. I and working on a bunch of fiberglass bodies for myself so I am wanting to try the stuff. I would rather try...
They sell the JC620 and the JC630, I was told the 630 was the faster clear. Ok does anyone know the buff times on this stuff, I cant find anything on PPG's website about it.
Thanks,
Travis
After having my shop open for about a year I finally just now got in a 04 nissan pearl white (QX3) tri-coat. It has white in both the base and the mid coat. Can anyone tell me if this is right, esp...
Got a chance to spray some Nason clear for the first time I think it was the 497.. maybe the 496, it was the 3:1 mix. As soon as I poured it out of the can for mixing I noticed man this clear is...
Subject pretty much says it all. I have a 94' Ranger that im changing the color on and I would rather not put a tri coat on it but boy them pearl whites sure do look good :)

I had to remove full decals all the way down both sides of an extended cab truck and luckly they each piece came off in one piece without breaking but now there is heavy, I mean heavy adhesive...
The razor blade is what I use to get my best results however i use it unlike you think you would. I actually turn it up on its 90* (parallel) to the surface and shave it like a razor. Not like you...
I Just switched over to dupont recently and I came to a situation where I had to add .10 of an ounce to a RTS mixture. Well when your talking increments that small it makes it hard to get it just...
If I walked up to this job I would find it unacceptable also. Then again I would think I caught it before the colorsanding/buffing stage. All it would take is a good colorsanding/buffing to fix the...
I use SEM's high build primer out of a rattle can alot for small spots like that. Just finish your body work around 240-320 grit with rattle can primer instead of around 180.

I agree with you, every since I have used it in my shop I havent been without it. Like you said its quicker, you save on thinner, and its just easier to use. Not to mention you can spray upside...
Just got a chance to use the transparent sealer. Even though it looks like a puke color it sprays on really transparent. Im use to ppg sealers so to me this 42400 sealer that mixes 4:1:1.5 seams...
I like the blue myself :)
Thanks guys,
The sealer I got is the 42400 (translucent) is what he wrote on the label, How is the Uro primer 1104s (value shade) compared to the 4004s you speak of? I dont know dupont prices so I...
Subject pretty much says it all. Im still in the process of switching from PPG to Dupont products and still trying to learn all the new numbers and products. Today I bought some Variprime, not sure...
A guy brought some Harley parts by the shop today and he had two new fenders packaged from over seas that was coated heavily in oil and wrapped. Whats the BEST way to insure a perfectly clean...
I understand where your comming from about other paint companies. Im not sure they would be to excited about comming to my shop since its a small repair shop, not a major collision center. As far...
Which primers do you reccomend going with in the Dupont line? If you know good or bad about a specific product pleae share!
Thanks agian,

The guy at the store told me the only difference in the Premier and the chroma base was the Binder it was made up of. The tints come from the same source for both bases. He said the Premier will...

I am switching over from PPG to Dupont simply because of pricing. I have nothing against PPG, I love their products but PPG has finally got to me raising their prices. Last year I paid 121$ for...
If you like the 161 you'll love the 260. Yes the spec sheets are almost the same but for some reason it lays so much better than the 161. I can lay it slick as heck. So slick that you have to drop...
I spray PPG products. What you goign to find on most vehicles is that the trim or two tone for that matter isnt going to have a paint code. In your case it sounds like it does but can still be a...
To clear up some things with my PVC is that yes the compressor is above ground and the lines go out about 14 feet which rises about 2 feet above the compressor level at a slant then goes into the...
I would reccomend PVC piping. It will not rust, its easy to cut and the good grade has a burst strength of 450-500psi. Most air hoses only have 200-250. Alot of people will tell you it will nto...
Would you go with a sata mini jet IV or a devilbiss SRi? I am a sata fan because I love their guns and have never used a devilbiss at all. Also I use a 1.3 for base and either a 1.3 or 1.4 for...
When I always cut and buf I always finish with 2500 grit. At the least I wouldnt go below 2000 grit. It just makes it easier because buffing isnt my favorite thing to do. With black you almost...
With PPG you want to start with your mix in which I use the DBC paint line in the PPG system. For color blending I will use a product called dbc500 "color blender" and you take that "RTS" and lay it...
I'v been using DBC500 for a whil now on my color Blends and according to the P-Sheets this newer 840 stuff seems to be great at doing wet beds, color blending, single stage, and clear blends. For me...
