That is Nason on the 70 Chevelle.
I used it on a 1970 Chevelle and loved it, covered well and was a all in one base. I used a grey primer under it. I can say that it covers better than the DuPont in my area.

I have been shooting the clear with a 1.4 tip, should I change to a 1.3 so see if that helps me lay less clear down as I go across the panel?
Thanks again!
Brian
Hey guys I have a quick question for ya. I have been working on a 69 Camaro ( Dupont Base/Clear) and as I begin to sand and buff I am finding a lot of little pits. How can I look and tell if its...
I Use Nason on most of my repaints, DuPont calls for the hardener so USE IT. Your work and time is worth the $25 to $35 extra it cost for the pint to insure your entire job. Nason is thin so...
Yes you must activate it........I use Nason on complete repaints and its good paint for the price but stick to the tech
Sheet. Its kinda thin!
Brian
I use their 2K primer for everything and it works great. I believe their bases are Kirker. I have used their single stage urethane for semi-gloss trim and it was great!

Starting to restore a 1988 Fiero GT Ttop and the wing has separated between top and bottom. Len what do you think
we can use to repair this and keep it together.
Thanks
Brian...
I use DuPont in my garage. I have used Nason base activator in my Chromabase. I have also used Nason clear activator in my Chromabase with no problems. I feel like it keep certain problems down and...
I have used the 99k black several times and always keep a quart around. I use 3 coats and it does great.
Brian
I second that......I use mostly Chromabase and it does not call for a activator. I do use a dab of Nason clear activator in ever base. Makes quick sand and nib repairs much much easier.
Brian
I like using chromabase and Nas. Clears. all works real well together.
Brian
I love my 3rd gen and have built a few. Look for a leak around the front glass, or Cowl vent. If the water comes from the T-Tops it always tends to fall in the back seat or in the T of the top.
...
When I have a repair like that I think it is just easier in the long run to do the entire panel, unless its a quarter that has no seam lines up to the roof.
How was it using the Sum. paint...
I use dupont and always use a activator in the base. The chromapremier is A warranty that is when a activator is used. I use a little bit of nason clear activator in my base and it makes it handy...
When you paint with Nason what is your mix ratio? Maybe the Dupont directions are causing it to be too thin. I am not against changing my ratio to try it again. Chroma is expensive for a Hobby guy.
...
My experiance with Nason is that it just does not cover well at 4 to 1 vs. chromabase 1 to 1 at times it can be cost effective and at times not. The metallic does not lay nearly as well as chroma.
...
I don't know if I am up for trying something like that. I have no clue where to start or what to do if there is a problem.

Hey all I have a 70 Monte Carlo in the shop the owner has already removed the old top and I have now removed all of the rust and glue. What is the going cost would you guess for a new top at a shop?...
What can a person expect from Kirker paint. I have never used them, the Nason single stage seem to cover well in Black but Nason base seem thin. I tend to have tiger striping with Nason.
Brian
Summit has base colors since the first of the year, do you know what bases they may be selling?
Brian
Had a 1970 Monte Carlo that the owner already removed the vinyl top leaving a lot of glue behind. Do you have any idea of what I can use to remove it?
Thanks
Brian Felts
What kind of quality is KIRKER paint. I usually use Nason when I need to do a budget job but the last time I used Nason green on my own car it took a gallon to cover a 95 Jaguar. Man was it thin.
...
I have used their 2k high build primer and I really like it. Have not tried their paint but for something you may sell for a flip or a Daily beater I would try it.
Brian
Yes with base clear is all about a time line. Depending on the base you used you have a set time you have to clear to sit the chemical bond. Most are within 24 hours. After you pass the time you MUST...
Check out both of my threads on the tools forum. Do not purchase a Campbell Hausfeld. They are great until you need to call up on their warranty.
Brian
MAJOR FYI
Do not order anything from http://www.paddockparts.com My buddy with the 64 Chevelle had stuff for his interior on order from them and it was taking forever. He called the part...
I will double check it. C.H does put an arrow on the pully wheel so it is a easy double check anything to keep it from happening again.
Brian
Thanks to all on the opinions. I know the crank was full of oil when it happened and the comp. had not been touched since it was sent from the manf. so its turning the right direction. I am just one...
Yeah I would not recomend them. I paid $1000 for this unit and basically the pump lasted what I would imagine a real body shop would be 6 mos of work. I would guess 4 complete repaints and I do a lot...
Phil..... the compressor really didnt make that much noise. Heck it was pumping to 60 + lbs of pressure? I kept the oil changed. Is there any way running it in the cold below *32 could have caused...
Hey all I have fought it out with Campbell Hausfield and they replaced the entire compressor pump when they could not come up with the parts under warranty to fix mine. Well their gues would have...
Through some tough battles I am now getting a complete new pump sent to me. I fought and fought then sent them a registered letter letting them know I was going to the Ohio Atty. Generals office....
Well here is my Horror story..........please please think about this when you purchase tools and a compressors. I did as you all thought with the check valve and interstage rel. valve. Was not the...
Well once again I would like to thank everybody for your help. I will give you an update on the job when the parts get her.
LS6 I will take your advice on the valve and do it first.
Thanks...
I have parts on order now. I got the tank check valve and the pressure relief valve.
Thanks to everybody!!
Brian
This is the part that I found fluttering..........is this the same as a pressure relief valve you would use to let the pressure off the tank on smaller compressors?
Thanks ONCE AGAIN!!!!
Brian
True.......I always pick Chromabase over the nas. unless there is no other way. When you look at how they mix chroma 1:1 vs. Nason 2:1 ( I think) and buy the activator you really don't save as much...
Thank you guys so very much..........I still have not found my breahter :) I got out on it yesterday evening and I found a pull valve that is on one of the black finned lines coming out of the head...
How hard of a repair would that be? Is It something I can do or need to be taken to a shop? I am calling C.H. tomorrow and see if I have any warr. left and see what kind of fight I may have to fight....
Changed the oil and it is looking good.........The tank/head is holding air however when its running I can head it push air out somewhere on the compressor. It will not pump up over 60 psi it will...
Yes you must use the activator.
Brian
Well where may I find the unloader valve? How can I trouble shoot it?
The compressor is on a 220 by its own.
It blew the crank case breather way out........I am still looking for it
...
Yeah it will pump up and holds air. I have it in an outside building next to the garage and it was 30* yesterday. Should I not panic and wait until it gets warmer today and try it out?
I don't...
Hey all was doing some color sanding this morning when my Campbell Hausfield comp. blew a breaker. I checked it out and thought the compressor was tight when I turned it over by hand.
I restarted...
Thank you for the input. I put the job on hold until Len gets the 1200 to me along with 1500 trizact. I really like the trizact and will try the drywall knife on it before I use the next disc.
...
Cool thanks for the input. I am using the dry finishing film for the car. I love the way the sanding leavs a guide coat.
Brian
Guys........hey I am finishing a 64 Impala and was wondering? I usually use 1000 FF then 1200 and 1500 then 3000 trizact but I am out of 1200.
I forgot to get it from Len and my local supplier is...
I am a BMW fanatic.............its a steel hood.

I used DuPont nason single stage black on a 1993 300zx and it was beautiful. Everybody thought it was base clear. It was my first time using single stage and I really thought it was easy and quick.
