Getting ready to spray so Panels on my car. I can get Chromabase clear at cost **yeah** but not sure which clear to use.
I see 7900s, G2-4700S, G2-7779S and HC-7776S. Which one is best to use for...
Thanks Len. Gonna give it a shot since the price will be hard to resist. Can't be as bad as Limco which I used last time.

Looking for some feedback on Chromabase Clear. I will be in need of some clear as Spring rolls around and I can get a great price on this stuff.

I'm just saying pro autobody guys have more experience then us non pro's and can lay the paint down better. Non pro's like myself get more orange peel thus we need to sand down to level it out....
Got a link for the round 6 inch block( bottom one)?

Some of us non professional painters with other jobs who are car enthusiasts need some help along the way!!

Nice.. Will use gun for primer.

I'm surprised I don't see more talk on this type of work using Hutchins 7544 waterbug. I like it with the waterfeed, great for removing orange peel, scratches, painted pin stripe and much more.

Got my goods today Len. Thanks a ton.

Great Len.. Do you have the whole kit? Eraser and spindle for drill. Also looking for 3m General trim adhesive remover. Car will get full polish/ detail after pinstripe removal.

I am curious what to use for Pin stripe removal, the tape type, not painted on. I've used hair dryers with some luck and was wondering about the " eraser wheel" and if it is worth a shot.
Thanks...
Well it worth a chance to ask. I know about the TDS from some of my painting. This was a neat link I found

I was wondering if there was a book out that covered all the different types of auto paint and info on mixing elements. Topics like enamel, urethane, acrylic, reducers thinners etc.
Thanks in...
I'll safe my money then. I was looking for some help in detailing some thin coated factory paint jobs. Thanks Len.
dlm
I am getting different opinions on paint meters. I really am looking to getting a read on the clear coat thickness instead of the "total paint' thickness for detailing purposes and I really don't...
Len.. Are you saying you are using Mystic Cut to "cut" and "polish" with out using a polishing medium after the Mystic?
Doug M ny country
Went over with the Lake Country Orange foam and Presta Ultra Polish that helped a great deal. One of the problems was my white shirt reflecting against a shiney "Diamond Schwartz" BMW black...
I am curious to the final grit you used before you went to buff with Mystic. I just used used some 1500 grit to remove some scratches and I wanted to try out my new Mystic. I polished out with some...
Did you scuff the edge of the clear that wasn't worked on or just lay the blender on top?
dlm ny country
The can I looked at today said when you are ready to use blender mix it one to one with remaining clear and spray on before you last coat of clear is dry. "Chromabase" is the product line name...
Anyone ever use this and if so how do you apply it? I know you put it on when your clear is still wet but i was wondering if you mix it with clear or shoot it as is over new paint and old area...
Sounds like a good plan. I am going to give Transtar Euro clear a shot. Heard good things about it. And make a jig to hold the tank too.
Now if only I had time to finish up my car *•*•*•*•*•*...
Buddy asked me to spray his tank which is peeling. He said it was peeling from the cap leaking gas. I said the cap leak has to be fixed before a repaint. Any tips on sealing up the peeling area...
It's a waterbug. Shouldn't need a sponge. I am looking for discs in 6 inch with holes finer then 1500 grit.
dlm
That doesn't have the holes for the waterbug and I was wondering if it available in finer grit(with holes).

I've used 3M Hookit II 1500 discs (3M part #00750) with a Hutchins waterbug 7544 for Orange peel removal with good results. I was wondering if 3M has replaced that number to #00950 and if they...
I wonder why Rob switched. He needs to update the DVD. lol

I've used Mequiars 105 compound with average results. I have had very good luck with there polymer waxes. #7,8,20 and tech 2.0 all work well.
dlm ny country
I think that is a good plan Len. And I know when I put it back on in spring it will be back in the "toilet" in no time.

Ok....
1-The photo shows the gel coat on top of the fiberglass form. This spoiler was black and I sanded around all the stress cracks to the gel.
2- The stress cracks were caused by the car being...
That all sounds good. Will be a winter project since there are many little cracks and this is a very rare BMW ALPINA spoiler. The sad part is since the car sits low in the front you know what ...
These cracks are so small( no edges at all) and I get it if you just go over it they will reappear. What about using flexible bumper sealant on them? Just a thought. The spoiler is way stiffer...
I had one crack which was structural that I repaired in the back with cloth and resin. I v'd the crack. It is strong now. The front surface cracks are not structural but in the white resin that sits...
Anyone suggest what the title says? I have all the air one's for the garage. Looking to do some prelim sanding on some winter projects in the basement. Thanks......

Got some stress cracks in the paint surface in a front fiberglass spoiler. I am thinking to sand through the paint cracks and start prep for complete repaint. Any tips on this? I will validate...

Any one know where I can get the the big soft flexible polisher used in the DVD? Also he had a L.E.D. head lamp for detailing which is impressive also. Would be interested in BOTH..
