Well finally got the engine bay sured up and took some pics.
I did not remove the steering column and wish I did as it is a pain in the ass to work around. The steering linkage and the sway bar...
I would only cut out the portion that is bad and trim the replacement part to fit the spot.
Make sure while it is opened up that you rustproof all that area and coat it well.
I am sure...
I have thought about getting some cheap auto paint and throwing it on the car to protect it. It wont be completely exposed, it will be under a carport kind of thingbut the sides are open so it will...
Thanks Len.
One more question, how musch primer should I need to do an entire car?
I am figuring a gallon
Once my metalwork is complete, I want to put my 67 Mustang into primer. I plan on spraying the entire car 1 area at a time. I have a 1 car garage and not real good ventilation so I cant just spray...
The way the transition pan comes down and meets the floor is that it is spotwelded and is under the floorpan. Is that going to be an issue with it by just butt welding it together like that? Looks...
Well I am experiencing some computer issues...LOL My CPU wont recognize my camera anymore.......I will as soon as I can get the pics up.
Thanks for reading.

Well I havent been on here to update lately. I received my shipment of parts from CJ Pony Parts. I have accomplished the following:

Thanks and keep the pics coming!
Gib
so it has been quite the summer and things were going slowly.
I have been doing a bunch of work on the 67. I have replaced the drivers side rear frame rail. It was quite a difficult task. Alot of...
Mess is no big deal. I was using a blaster but the wife put a stop to that as my garage is connected to the laundry rom and when I used it, the dust would get into the house and stuff. I will use the...
Great work, in october I will be starting on my wheel wells too. That is the way I was thinking of doing them. Thanks for the impromptu lesson....
What did you use to clean up the metal on the...
Sweet project.....it does look just about the same as mine...LOL
I would love to help but I am not that far yet..... the black trunk floors were just thrown into it at one point in order to have something for a floor.
I will be buying an entire trunk floor.

Thanks man. Any pics of the Coug?
Gib
Oops sorry, I must read better. You did say Laquer. What is the difference in the painting technique with that vice enamel?
Gib
Sweet. I got about the same setup so I should be able to spray myself....I am not going to use acrylic enamel though....
TCP is right up the street from me. I was there last week.
Good guys. They...
Very nice work. What setup are you using and what type of paint? Enamel? Just wondering as I have thought of painting my own car also.

Well yesterday I got the blaster out and finished stripping some things. While I was at it, I decided to strip the areas that are seen of the dash. Most of it is covered by panels and dash pad, so...
Ok the cowl for my car is still solid and doesnt leak. So I did not have to disassemble all of this, and I am relieved as it is a large project.
I am only sanding down and then rustproofing and...
OK so here are a few before and after shots of the inside radiator support. Yes the top lip is bent in a couple spots. I will bend the lip nice and straight before final preps.
Passenger side...
Yep he was in the car sanding down the dash last weekend....didnt get much done but he continues to talk about how much he helped...... I gave him a scraper too.....and had him scrape the inside...
Wow great job. I never thought of cutting that piece in half to install it.
Your project has really got me going on mine. I read alot of what you did and said hey I can do that too.
Gib
Some of the earlier ones were taken with a Cannon Rebel XTi. The newer pics were with a older point and shoot Kodak C760 or something like that.
Thanks for the compliments. I will have more by the...
While I was spraying, I decided to spray the firewall also as it has been sanded and coated with Ospho also. Here are before and after of the firewall area....
BEFORE:...
Made some progress......
There were a large amount of spots that I needed to repair. I have not finished yet but am well on the way.
The largest problem was 4 spots where the Engine Bay Fender...
Sweet. Thanks for the response. I will pick up a roll of .023 then. Then I can not blame the equipment for poor welding.....just my ability. LOL
Thanks.
Gib
.023 huh....... Maybe that is my issue. I was using .035 and burning right through the sheetmetal. I got a few good tacks down but couldnt hold a bead......
I may have to pick up a roll of that...
+1 for sure!!!!
I did a couple band aids at first and they are really bad now.......after only 5 years. Now it needs completely redone.
Gib
Thanks for agreeing Len. I kind of was in the same situation.......If I had known the issues I was about to uncover and the crappy work that had been done before I dont think I would have bought the...
I started back in July when it got here and it took a little bit to get everything stripped down. Then I started back up in January at developing how I wanted to go about the resto....AKA What to do...
I have been thinking of that kind of fix, but am not sure of my ability to do the patch.
Thanks for that as it is a pretty decent instruction of the way to do it.
Gib
Oh and yes you can seperate the rocker and the quarter panel. There are some spotwelds in there. To access from inside, remove thw window and stuff and you should be able to see the spotwelds at the...
I would sand that area down so that you can see the entire rusty area. I would be willing to bet that the rust infected area is much larger than the bubbling. As long as the infected area doesnt go...
OK so now I am up to date on the progress of this project. Hope I didnt bore the heck out of you. There are alot of issues with this car. I am going to do my best.
The major item is the frame...
Well since I need to rustproof, prime and prep the frame rail areas, I figured I might as well redo the engine bay at the same time since I will have the Ospho and Primer. I started out with a...
OK so in order to get the stubborn f-ing broken frame rail out, I had to resort to barbarian tactics......
Tools used were:
BFH....
3 chisels
spot weld cutter
drill
dewalt grinder
sheetmetal...
After hitting it again for 30 seconds with the Pressure blaster using Aluminum oxide....that stuff kicks ass......
