To me it looks like the tree shadows is making it look like it is darker in spots.
That can be a big mistake alot of rookies make. You want to give grease and wax remover plenty of time to completely dry (flash). I dont know if this is what caused your problems. There could be a...
Alot of insurance appraisers use yellow crayons to circle the damaged areas and write blend panel and what not. I have seen large industrial crayons at harbor freight and at Lowes. It wipes off...
steve is right
You should have left the clear and flattened the whole hood with 800 then resprayed. The only way to make it look right now in my opinion is to either strip the whole hood or...
It doesnt look like the dura block either. The dura block has holes drilled into the trigger and doesnt have a fan knob on the side. It doesnt really look like any of the guns I have seen but more...
You must have never used Nason products before? They are very thin the clear and the base coat. I would actually probably recommend using the 1.2 for it all.
I would put 10% reducer in my clear and spray it with the 1.2 tip. The base I would spray with the 1.5.
I quit using the Nason Clear because it seemed to get too many dust specs in it and took too long to dry. but if you have a good controlled enviroment you should be fine. If not you may want to...
I have sprayed Nason for years. I use a 1.4 tip.
Looks like the Transtar LVLP and Kinda like the Evo LVLP. They tried to copy Iwata LVLP when they made these guns. they work decent but dont atomize as well as the real deal.
Could be your gun pressure too. I have the same gun and I liked spraying with it at 20-25 psi with the trigger pulled.
My 7 hp husky had a Allen wrench bolt to drain the oil but trying to remove the bolt I stripped it out. I guess I will have to buy a fluid extractor and extract it from the fill up hole.
Ok sorry.
Yes Cross fire will be a big step up from the crap you used. I would probably if you have time sand off the stuff you already sprayed. If not sand it with some 600 grit wet and spray...
For $90 you cant even get a gallon of cheap clear coat. Get real. You wont have any sympathy here complaining about a $90 paint job.
That is pretty bad when you buy the cheapest stuff you can find then complain that it wasnt that good. What do you expect? Cheap and good? Not gonna happen.
lol that bottle opener mounted on the frame gives it character.
I have had bad luck with everything I have bought from harbor freight that requires precision. I have had to replace my air stapler two times in the past two months. My brad nailer broke all...
I have an extra scale so if you find one without a scale let me know and I can send you this one.
Keep looking on Craigslist. I just bought one with half full toners, computer, and a scale for $500. I had to drive 4 hours to get it but they guy was nice enough to give me a paint booth as well.
I used an Astro for a few months. It didnt put out very much material so you could spray alot of coats without getting runs. It is probably as good as a $200 dollar gun. If you have the money the...
When I get ready to buy a new spray gun I might have to look into that Tekna. I have a Devilbiss GTI millenium and it lays base better than any other gun I have used. So I know Devilbiss is a good...
I bought a Sata Jet 90 the other day on Ebay for $75 bucks just to hold me over until I could buy a Sata RP or the Iwata LV. I was disappointed at first because there was an inch of primer dried in...
And those filters on the bottom of the cup are disposable every spray. I dont use them. I just filter my material good going into the cup and wash real good with lacquer thinner. I go through a 5...
11 am lol. It is 105 degrees where you are at by then.
Thanks guys.
The fittings dont leak around the thread just where they plug together. I think some are from Lowes and some are from harbor frieght. SO I will get some of the miltons and give it a...
Thats what I thought. I will need to buy a better brand of air fitting tommorow when I go pick up my paint.
Thanks
I have some 1/4 air fittings to my air line and paint guns. The female adapter leaks air and always has. I tried a new one and it leaks air too. Do I need to buy more expensive air couplers or do...
I quite using s&w several years ago because I couldnt get very good color matches. But I do remember one dark Green mettalic Honda Accord. I painted the rear bumper. I scuffed it, used adhesion...
What do they expect you to paint there bike for $100 bucks. They must be smoking Crack.
We need some pics.
How long are you waiting after cleaning the surface with Wax and Grease remover? Some wax and grease removers need to be wiped off right after applying and then need an hour to...
Damn Brian
You wrote a book lol
Nice stuff though ;)
I once painted out of my home garage and just bought a dryer plug and some 10 gauge wire and just unpluged my dryer and pluged in my compressor why doing body work. Worked fine for me but the...
I know he has a combo in the specials section. I dont know if that is what your looking for though.
If you have anymore trouble with bugs. Let a fogger off in your shop about 30 minutes before you want to paint. I paint alot at nite and it keeps 95% of the bugs out of there for about 3 hours. I...
It is best to sand and buff in the first few days. But it still can be done months later it will just take you alittle longer. I would wait. I have damaged alot of parts buffing them not on the...
I have good luck with dupont's nason and spies hecker brand by taking the vin# and the paint code up to the paint store and haveing them mix it with vindicator. Out of about 100 I only had one that...
Just get the factory code mixed and do blends. Most spot repairs are blends anyways. You might be able to get a used mixing system for $1000-1500.
Madvette,
Read this post before you decide to charge a low amount.

Yea wet sanding works best for 2k urethane primers. But they make a new sandpaper for DA's made by Mirka that doesnt clog and works well. It is called Abranet.
$350 for a simple scratch repair and blend. Even if they dont mix their own paints they should have gotten some more paint and redid the work.
It is quite possible the color was right on but they...
See if the Dupont jobber sells Spies Hecker or Standox. Good stuff. WHen It gets that hot be sure to use a slow reducer. Apply wetter coats then you typically would. I am in Central Texas so it...
Best of luck. Hopefully they will give your money back and take it somewhere else to have it fixed.
We can probably give you some to watch out for lol.. Duponts Nason is cheap and decent but has it problems. PPGs Omni same kinda thing more so on the matching side.
The problems is that alot...
Naw I believe the customer on this one. The reds match pretty well on the honda's. More than likely it wasnt a good blend. If you can tell it. they can tell it. I see way more stuff wrong with...
yea the waterbased wax and grease remover must not have been totally dry before I sprayed my 1k sealer. Because I sprayed a light coat and it popped in alot of places. I let it dry and sprayed...
Len,
I hardly ever have an issue with my current setup. I drain my compressor two times a day and the filters twice a day as well. And I replace the little ball filter at the bottom of my paint...
I pay $47 for a pint of Spies Hecker and about $86 for a quart of the same. It is the same price for any color. Probably comparable to glasurit and sikkens
How often do you have to change the filter? I paint about 3-4 bumpers a day.
I put a manual regulator at the bottom of it and used 1500 grit dry and kept the speed medium pace. I does fine soo far. Did two tailgates and a bumper. Saves me alot of time. I am definately...
