Box it in...for $50 or less in materials itll be safer and will make the garage look much cleaner ;) Besides, since ya just bought the house, Im assuming youre gonna live there awhile, and itd be...
Very nice to say the least! Len, I like the commentary when they were setting the body onto the frame...."Be careful guys!" :D
Id try to chisel em out with an air chisel or grind em off, to keep from drilling into the frame so much. Im not sure about the bracing but if ya mean to keep it square, it shouldnt need any. But Im...
The donor car has the seat platform too, right? if so, Id cut out the whole drivers side floor and replace it as one piece, and eliminate ALL the rust, especially since you have a donor car to use. I...
Heres a pic of another configuration that I borrowed from a friend on another forum that I think is simply great....

Pics would definitely help. Shoot em to me and Ill try to post em if ya wanna.
Good point, Bob, and Maxifrig is definitely one of the flammable ones. Personally, I wouldnt use it.
Ya, Id go that route too. Theyd be cheaper, and WOULD fit ;)
More pics would help. Can ya buy that brace? Just guessing, youll need more than just the brace though. Im sure someone more knowledgeable on Impalas will chime in soon too ;)
Like Len said, its impossible to tell without actually seeing your setup, piping, etc. The desiccant snake should be the last in a series of filtration devices along your airflow path. Usually youll...
DOOH! I forgot you were hip on electrical stuff lol :o Well, glad to hear ya got it all going anyhow...now all ya need is an auto-darkening helmet (mandatory) and youll be all set! ;)
Greg, did you already buy the wire to run? If not, you may wanna consider larger than #8...200' is a long run. Personally, Id probably run #6 just for the welder, or maybe even larger wire just in...
WOWEE!!! $2500 for that???
I agree with using tape, but no amount of tape will prevent HF fittings from leaking lol. Do yourself a favor and find some quality fittings ;)
I usually scuff with 60 or 80. And I like to give it at least a few days before applying filler over it, but Im sure it could be applied sooner.
Id probably take it off, cuz it may not have the hardener mixed consistantly throughout since it was so thick when you mixed it.
Its too thick to even spread? Ummm, I dont think it should be THAT thick...
Personally, Id strip it down to bare metal.
I built mine about 2-3 years ago outta wood. Its roughly 3' wide x 2' deep x 3' tall and it cost maybe $100 counting the lights, gloves, and gun. It only took a few hours to build and works great! :)
IIRC, using those guns, you adjust the texture by changing the air pressure :)
Great info, as usual, John :)
Im sure theyd be installed AFTER.
Migs will weld aluminum but ya need to use pure Argon and aluminum wire.
Ususally they have mounting posts that just bolt on.
All it takes is a lil practice....
Air
Requires a good compressor
Usually lightweight
Must drag heavy airhose around
Normally not as precise as electric
Electric
Better variety of tools
Almost always heavier
Even...
Well ya could just skip over HVLP altogether and go straight to LVLP. Thats the latest technology, as far as I know. ;) Do a search on here and youll find plenty of info on it.
Heres how I did mine and it works for me....I built a filter rack that fit the doorway for incoming air, large surface area so as to prevent pressure differences inside, keep from creating a...
Id wetsand it cuz I am less likely to cut through with paper than with a buffer, but thats just me. And youll be removing the same amount of material anyways, no matter what ya use to do it with.
Im hip with Earl...if youre going to this much trouble, its not much more trouble to redo the old areas also. You never know how itll hold up or whats underneath it ;)
Same here, I havent/wont use their basecoats cuz of what Phil said. But I DO like their clears ;)
They do make life so much easier ;) Id never do a resto without one.
Do you mean like a curved block to sand with to keep the exact same curve?
Good info, Ray :)
Yes, the M2M filler uses a pinkish/reddish liquid hardener.
Looks fine to me, SMS ;)
Ive gotta ride with Len on this one...you can NEVER have too much fluorescent light. Grab em Dustin and hook em up! ;)
Ya, as long as you didnt put any activator in it, it should keep awhile like camaroman said.
I bought some on eBay to spray as undercoating on my Firebird. Three sprayable gallons for like $200 wouldve been enough to do 2 truck beds easily, and I dont foresee it fading. Of course, being on...
VERY good info, Dustin! Thats about as well as Ive ever heard it explained. Ill hafta save that info for the next time somebody is trying to argue that PVC is OK for air lines. ;)
Yes Omni clear is good, but Ive heard their basecoat leaves a lot to be desired. Ive never tried it myself...but Ive heard their basecoats dont cover so well. I use DBC for basecoat.
The number one culprit causing orange peel in paint is..............SLEEP DEPRIVATION!!! :D
The reasons you dont use PVC are because over time it will become even more brittle and if it ever ruptures it can be very hazardous, and it doesnt dissipate heat very well. I prefer galvanized as...
Ya, 4 cfm isnt really big enough for much, especially a DA sander. Most Ive seen were VERY air-hungry. As far as an electric, itd probably do most things an air one would do, itd just take longer and...
I have one that goes on my 4 1/2" grinder. I dont remember where I got it though. Im thinkin I got it at Lowes and its hook & loop.
I use 2 layers of those cheap fiberglass filters for incoming air, as dust is about all they catch anyway. I have a filtered area 30" wide x 80" tall x 2" thick. Since I have a large surface area...
Ya Phil, I saw him online just this mornin lol. And you never DID answer my question about that "ValuPro" line of primer that I wound up with. I still have it, but I dont know whether I...
I think you meant "embers", Greg ;)
How about that ValuPro line? Are the primers decent? The reason I ask is cuz the other day, instead of OMNI, I wound up with a gallon of ValuPro P330-1700 2K high-build somehow, and didnt realize it...
Word on the street has it that with metallics, its usually best to do an all-over with all the parts on, so as to reduce the chances of it not matching. ;)
