Thanks Len, we are placing an order right now, do you have an extra 1.4 tip to include with our order? If so please do so, you can contact Steph at 302-464-8879 to get additional payment if needed....
I assume nothing for my devilbiss would be compatible with this though right?
I have a Plus gun currently, it is damaged and while not taken care of I'd like to get a new gun. Used for Urethane, BC/CC. I would like to see what else would use the same tips and Dekup kit.
I...
I currently have the Finishline Plus gun and it is failing on me, not sealing air and I guess from neglect and abuse being a tube at the time it is time for something newer.
I have a bike to paint...
Thanks Len, are there any brands or systems that you recommend? I know it isn't something you purchase everyday, hence the questions. Down draft is preferred for sure but will need to align with the...
I know this isn't something we buy everyday but I really need a booth for the shop. While I would love to have temp/humidity control, my main need is Light and Air Filtration.
Can anyone recommend...
DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy the junk ass ones from Harbor Freight Tools, they suck so bad that you are better off without them. Not even good for a one time or weekend use, complete waste of money,...
Awesome, thanks Len, I'll keep that in mind.
Thanks Len, I ordered it. Should I use an adhesion promoter under the filler or apply directly? Which is the best method?
I think I found my answer on a recent post but wanted confirmation.
It's been a while since I've been on the site so hello to all!
I am restoring an OEM bumper which is hard to find, I choose...
I planned on trying a block of wood and trying to bend it back, I figured I'd check with you guys first. The damage is subtle, pics can't really show much of anything.
The hood opens, closes,...
Hey guys, I have a question regarding a hood on a jeep wrangler. I found that half way down the hood it touches the fenders. It seems to be about an 1/8 maybe a 1/4 off while the front is raised up...
I have a customer working on a restore..... long story short, needs me to install some new sheet metal, welded on, prepped for bodywork.
No rush on the job so it is more of a pleasure than work....
Hey guys, Like my lift, I'll probably opt to buy something new.
I am looking for a tire machine that handles even the larger rims and low pro tires, balance machine too. Motorcycle wheel...
Excellent! Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for.
Question Regarding prep work.
I'm respraying a car, same color.... actually a better quality black, but same black.
The fenders, hood bumpers are all off, hatch too. The doors however I am...
Awesome, Thanks.
Have you ever used epoxy primer on urethane bumpers?
Air is generally the way to go because the dust will clog electric motors and they will fail. With that being said, for most of my small work, I still use an electric sander. It collects the dust,...
I'm cleaning up my guns now, I may need a seal/o-ring so I'll order everything together.
I'll use my old cups for the primers and use the dekups for the base/clears. It just makes sense to me,...
I actually know of a shop that does it this way on their restorations. They blast, do the metal work, then epoxy before any filler work. No worries. Learn something new every day.
When do you...
That makes sense then. No vent required. I have to get some.
Now see, this is what I am talking about. I've usually applied filter to bare metal, clean from rust, prepared with 24 grit. I've read, and read in many places where they claim the filler will...
I've used old reducer to run them clean, but clearly I need to be a little more careful going forward. The primers especially.
I've been looking at them Len, it's hard to justify the cost of the liners. While a standard cup can be used hundreds of times. I do like the fact however that when you are spraying base and clear...
I need to get some cups for my clear/color gun and just used the old ones for primer.
Any cheap alternatives? 16-20 oz.
I saw HFT has a complete plastic cup, one piece that was like a 'one...
Hey guys, been a while, hope everyone is doing well. I had to do some metal repair work and wanted to know what is best practice. I repaired down to the metal some dings, rust from stone chips also...
The top bar design seems to be a better design but that bar add a height restriction..... torn.
The base plate design is good for low ceilings but if it has a ladder rack or something then the...
I do a lot of mechanical work and it wouldbe mainly for this purpose.
I've decided on a 2 post lift for the most part but have some options that I am fighting with.
If I get the baseplace style, then there is no vehicle height restriction, but the top support style...
I generally don't do collision work, mainly custom work although it would be nice to do some bodywork at eye level......
My main question is, if I purchased used, is there a brand that I should...
The lift will maninly be used for mechanical work, maybe some floor pans or something down the line but the main intention is mechanical work.
I was thinking about a 2 post as they seem to be...
Hey guys, I am looking to get a lift for my new spot, the most conventional seems to be the 2 post lift.
What type/brand do you guys recommend? If I were going to purchased used, again, what is a...
This was my first close up look of the new Mustangs and as I figured, just more garbage. It's really sad when you've been making cars for over 100 years and still can't get it right. I remember back...
A friend asked me to take a run to a dealer to check out a car that they were considering.... 2011 Mustang. So first thing I noticed is that a door was repainted and repaired when the dealer told...
I remember seeing a few newer pick up trucks with a two tone paint system, like black on the bottom fading in to orange or whatever on factory trucks. I then see on some of the car auctions for...
Similar color but a full color change. Not that it would matter as every painted surface is primed.
I am going to look in to the single stage.
Len is there a cheap decent quality mini gun I...
I use spray insulation when I do pillar repairs. Seals it from the inside out. Deadens sound and improves rigidity.
Nah, It's a 90 Jetta, 4 door. Jambs, Engine Bay, underside of hood and trunk.
If you think a gallon would do it, let me know, that would save me a ton.
The light spots tell me you're not getting enough paint out. how many coats is that?
What paint are you using? 2 stage or single stage? Check the guide for the proper tip size for your gun. Don't...
This vehicle is a full respray, inside and out. I was searching for the right shade and code to order for a while and came across the site.
I've never spent 800 a gallon but I have not done the...
Prices, just WOW.
The first one is tcp global's restoration shop which I think is made by Ellis Company.
Turf Green

RSP UB-B-GL UB-URETHANE BASECOAT "B" COLOR RESTORATION SHOP...
Gotcha. Makes Sense.
I've done quite a bit of work with translucent coatings, so I know what you mean there. Just so I am clear, when you say mix 25% clear in, are you suggesting that you add this...
I would spray the entire panels silver and then mask off and do the red.
Silver over the red may not give you the right look.
Gray primer should work for both as well.
When you say a harder finish, are you meaning stronger to say stone chips or to UV?
I would consider trying this method for this one car I am working on.
Zero Rust is Excellent.
Picklex is expensive but both are worth every penny.
Len turned me on to both of these and it is what I use exclusively.
As for the quality of a finish and shine, could you get the same appearance from that of a two stage? If you were doing a non original custom show car, would you use consider a single stage paint?
...
Quick Question for some of you full resto guys. If you had a car completely stripped, body only, frame off etc etc etc. Engine bay trunk, full paint.
Why would you opt for a single stage paint...
I've got this engine bay, straight, no damage or rust. I got it all primed up and I am wondering what i could do around the strut towers, they have factory seam sealer and a lot of it and it is...
Cool, Thanks. no hard feelings guys, I don't usually flip cars, the car usually dies with me. I was thinking of the MB 300D 80's design, but many are just rusted to crap or too expensive.
This is...
Back to the original post, what would someone expect to pay for a full re-spray. Probably a full week work with a dedicated crew no?
