saw this bad ass portable oxy acetylene welding and cutting tool. Called the HenRob 2000. Looked like it used little heat but not sure. Anyone got any opinion on this? It cut really clean.

I learned on a harbor freight and got it to spray ok... for a HF. Thing that sucks is that it won't give you rewarding results for perfect conditions. When I sprayed a good gun for the first time it...
They suck mainly cause they don't know what they want out of life or even what it takes to be good. Regardless, either you got it or you don't. Fortunately for myself I'm one of the few newbs that...
Not sure but what it could be is your 800 scratches shrunk and now they're not a 800 scratch and your 1000 didn't get them all out.
Or it sounds like sloppy sanding or buffing. When you color sand...
primer will take care of that.:D ;)
The shop is in Sacramento, Ca. We are kind of in charge of who does what with in the group. If the car is hot and two doors need to be sprayed one guy on each door but we try to avoid that and it...
while painting? I just bought my first home and plan on doing a project. I'll be welding, grinding, sanding, and painting. Is there anything I can do like throwing some sort of cover over it? Any...
The X-Rays is a win win situation for the smaller jobs. No waiting on parts and it's convenient enough for the customer to be ok with driving around with a square cut out of their bumper.
The...
It's very very hard on newbs, especially at first. You'll have to go into there with a great attitude and a willingness to do whatever they ask, no questions. If you're younger find a shop where...
Most likely on the horizontal surfaces, right? Sounds like it's oxidized. There is no clear where the red is coming off. Those panels need to be reshot and cleared. Might want to have him paint the...
Not sure if this is industry standard but for the smaller jobs we do something called "x-rays". When the guy brings his car in and commits we take the car and take off the damaged panel(usually...
Thanks for sharing that with us Phil, it explains a lot and I found it very interesting.
68 Chevydoula, I totally agree with that statement. Mostly everyone in our shop only knows what they are...
Not sure of what you consider "entry level" but the entry level guys in our shop do sections, bodywork, teardowns, skins, and literally everything besides frame work. In my opinion, I am an entry...
That car is to much to deal with. What year and how many miles? Those two things heavily factor into whether it's spared or scrapped. There's some cars that have very little damage that total out...
We just recently switched over to teams and everybody but preppers and detailers also got switched to flatrate. I work at Golden State Collision, which is the biggest shop in Sac. This is the fastest...
Not sure but think they are both classified as "lightweight filler". I like gold better, and as Len said, Extreme reminds me of poly putty. No pinholes in extreme and rarely in Gold. I'd always reach...
I hear ya. That sounds like a problem. I work on newer cars so I see panel alignment issues to less of a degree than you probably do with the old schools.
Was all the rust taken out??? even minute surface rust?
I'd sand out the bondo and rework the metal more if possible.
I'd force it over and tweak it a little bit. Why have two screwed up panels on your car?
Actually, waterbase is perfect for a hobbyist. If you don't have a business license to be doing it then as a hobbyist you should be doing whatever you can to ensure safety of others around you.
great read. I always thought that about block sanding primers so I can see that being true. 600-800 lightly on a block sounds like a good start. Then
1000-1200 on a 3/32. That was some nice info...
This must be a slow shop. That's next to nothing. I imagine they'll beat on the back panel and trunk floor and not cut anything out? I think that back panel should be cut but if they can do it in a...
still not worth the investment.
But heck, maybe you can take it to a good shop for the pull and frame time, then take it to maaco so they can beat on the trunk and slap on an inch of mud, paint...
pdr???:D
As Phil said, the frame is buckled. The trunk and back panel will have to be cut out and replaced after it's pulled. The cost of replacement outweighs the cost of repair. I would advise...
I got one of these a while back on this site but never got a pad for it. Decided to get a pad for it and fired it up today. That's the best da I've ever used! I did a bumper with it and it feathered...
Thanks for that. That's the front bumper though. That one's pretty simple. I'm referring to the rear bumper. Just that rear bumper bracket. It's like a bear claw that doesn't allow the bumper tabs to...
I agree. Doesn't sound like it's work hardened so it should pull right up, but cause like 88GT said it's shrunk and even out of contour it's not gonna surrender an inch to a welded in stud.
Robert's right. 2000 won't take 1000 scratches away and compound takes a long time to get out 1000. Buffing anything under 1200 will take a long time and not worth it. I'd even say at least 1500...
Not sure but isn't one a conditioner and one a converter? If they fall into those classes there will be differences.
Air bubbles can be caused by stirring and mixing. pinholes are merely pockets of air so anything we do that can trap pockets of air in the filler will contribute to pinholes. The main culprit is from...
Where was the car hit at exactly and how fast was the car going?
Thanks.
All the bolts are out for sure. I'm talking the bolts holding bumper bracket in place. If the bracket comes off it seems like the screw anchors need to be cut out or the screws need to be...
thanks. I'll try that.
Are you supposed to reach under the bumper and loosen the bolts on the bracket? Impossible. The only access is from the wheel liner, which gives you a good view and a little...
those videos are hillarious. What idiots!hehehehe He blocked it 3 times with no guide coat? At least they started to use a longer block after a while. I would have sprayed guide on every coat and...
Is there a way to get off this BMW bumper without ripping the tabs? It has two huge bumper brackets that have hooks that hook into the bumper tabs. The tabs are thin so it makes it seem impossible to...
I think sanding up and down on curves help in small doses. I mix it in there with /// \\\ sanding. You might not be using the metal as a guide as enough as you should.
Thanks for the input guys. I just wasn't sure what the normal tool to get next would be. It sounds like a mudhog. A da with the handle helps a little but it's performance is not that much different...
I just feel I need something quicker than a 6" da or palm. I'm getting some bigger dents at work and with the palm sander it's just taking too long to break it down. Just felt I needed something...
That makes sense. My bondo is already thinly applied so it seems like a grater would cut too deeply in most cases.
I feel the same way. The inline motion is funky. I'd rather final lines by hand and it seems a longboard orbital will do a good job at getting me to the point fast and with more finnesse.
Then...
Do you use a handle on these grater blades or is it better to use by hand?
i have blocks. Just looking for something to finnesse it down nearly flat, then a few strokes of the block to final. A mudhog is a good choice but like Jayson said it's not really anything you want...
Trying to knock down the filler quicker and was wondering which one of these tools would help the most?
Getting a grater today at home depot and that can help.
I've used an 8" sander before and...
I've yet to watch the video but knocking down the highs before bondo can save you plenty of time. I've noticed it's the guys who don't run a block with 40 over the area to expose exactly where the...
Yeah, but what he said wasn't clear. That makes sense though that he was meaning to cut above the chip guard. It's an easy call when you look at the pics.

Even If He's Wrong?
I know what the terms mean. That's what I meant. Convex any old block and concave would use the round block.
The rock guard SHOULD be stripped anyways due to hidden rust so you're right about it not being a concern but it's gonna have to be addressed at some point before you paint it.
Anyhow, I'd strip...
Great way to put it. The convex ones are usually always the teardrop and round one. I have that set from this site and it's great. Actually thinking of getting the teardrop soon. These blocks don't...
