Whenever you have a crowned panel and you push a low in, there will be a reaction that pushes metal up somewhere around that depression (low). Dents usually have a direction, the direction of the...
I see you use plastic sheating as masking material.... Don't use it in the final paint unless its a plastic especially made to be used as a mask. The paint does not stick well to plastic and might...
You can rebase withing the recoat window...
That seemed like the most logical primer they make to use on a bumper. KS sealer is basically just a urethane primer and has held up very well under thick coatings...
This car has KS as a primer...
More importantly, I was able to grasp in the course how to detect where to use it... The explanations and the test panels they had on hand were great to assimilate the notions and the effects......
I am just back from the color adjustment training....When wondering why paint is so expensive, its important to figure out the support cost...this PPG training center is great...and must cost a...
I am like a little kid...I can hardly wait...PPG Aquabase color adjustment training starting tomorrow...two days of trying to mess up colors for FREE! PPG has a real nice training facility in...
Ford black...DBC9700. Nice deep black...not the brownish gm black like Phill mentionned...Be attentive to reducer though, it requires only half the reducer of normal DBC....
I checked my catalogs and slip ons are not available for that car...you can always buy the factory style rocker and cut up what you don't need to create the slip on patch you need but they are more...
That metric stuff is just silly....I still think of a 2 by 4 as 8 feet long....and a 6 foot tall guy as 6 foot tall...not 1.8 meters... My kids are metric....but guys my age are just stuck in the...
Make and model of the car...some are easier than others...
Are you doing full rockers or slip ons?
All valspar clears are already flexibile from the factory...they don't make a flex additive...I can attest to the flexibility of their clears as I have done many jobs with UC and UFC35...many of them...
You can vary the color of a metalic paint a lot by how wet you spray it. When a metalic basecoat is applied wet, the metalic particles have the chance to siink into the pant and settle in the coating...
Your fenders do not have the holes, good thing...They are easy to plug with the bolts anyway, you plug weld the brace bolt directly behind the holes when the holes are there and voila! a little...
Hope the links works for you...

Let us know how you do...
I dunno if anything will stick there, the swing of the fender creates some pretty good vibrations...
I cant picture in my mind what you did with the plate and glue? Can you post a picture?
Now even I am confused...:0
I don't think they can get to the key!...lol
I had a good laugh too...
I would have sanded a good 6 to 8 inches around that crack to feather edge the scratch. Any scratch left would have been filled with plastic adhesive (Len sells Fusor for this...). Then the plastic...
Its pretty expensive to have those done today...when you spend 300 hours on a car...you can't do that for $2000 ...
I also think that the novelty of it has been removed by all the vinyl wraps we...
When ever you buy $500 worth of products from a retailer they should at least have the decency of giving you proper information about it. They should at least give you instructions if you ask for...
That pisses me off so much that those guys often give advice without knowing...The things I heard...there are way more bad ones than good...It would be so easy to send them to training a few times a...
Trying to fill a 40 grit scratch by burring it with 2K primer is a sure way of getting shrinkage...
Below 180 grit should be filled with a polyester product...body filler or polyester primer....
the bigger the error factor in the recipe...thus the biggest potential for color mismatch....
Its always difficult to achieve an accurate mix with such a low quantity. For example, on my scale, a...
One easy way to determine if the black primer on the new hood is worthy of keeping is to take some lacquer thinner or gun wash or urethane reducer on a rag and rub it on the primer. If the primer is...
Great Job...
The blue stripe on white is very classy...
Nice job...Great color. These cars just beg for red, that color is in the Cobra's DNA...
Oh the memories in those cars...A friend of mine had one and we did everything in that car...including taking it airborne, believe it or not, if flies very well...(you are probably better not to try...
Just wipe it down with wax and grease remover, that's the safest and most effective stuff you can use. Make sure you let it completely evaporate before clearing, wipe it down then go prepare yourself...
Great job...good looking car...
Its a nice feeling isn't it....
Some clears will do that if you lay them too thick with poor atomization. The high solid clears will have a tendency to do that...I got some of this pop with Imron clear....I was laying it way too...
What is the primer on now? PBC basecoat or clear?
I am a little confused. You should definetly not clear over the cheep primer....I am pretty sure it won't be the nice deep black you are looking...
Good to know I am not alone...
Why not give it the once over with the 1500? Go for it, you seem to have enough clear on there.
I don't struggle very long with these, I go back to sand paper and...
Mine are getting old......
Use it like a file, like Len said, no pressure...just scrape and the nib or run goes away...when flat switch to sand paper. Saves a lot of trouble...and time. Make sure...

They all have one. The idea is to fill the sand scratches and give an even surface for the pearls to fade out in without having some of them...
Valspar makes those DTM primers and sells them also through House Of Kolor. In HOK however ther is a real sandable epoxy which is the KP2CF...if you want the top corosion sandable primer, KP2 is on...
I doubt many jobbers carry it...it is an over reducer of sorts, kind of just a clear binder...
I can't think of a color I could not blend, even in silvers and golds with chromabase...however, I...
Any PBC is quite easy to stripe. PBCs are pure pearl and the more coats you put on the darker it gets but never completely covers...its quite transparent. So if you stripe the pearl, even if you put...
PPG DCU2021 or DCU2002 are nice user friendly clears....the omni clears are good choices too in a value brand. They lay down well, sand and polish easily...
Just spray the nason as a ground coat, let it flash then continue with the chromabase...I am pretty sure too you will be fine then...
I am booked for this course in mid september for envirobase....It will be interesting to see how different the techniques are from solvent based paints as you don't see what you are doing until you...

The problem with the counter people in those places is that they never sprayed a car in their...
Next time you have some clear left over in the gun do a little test on some scrap...Then try to put a gun wash soaked rag on it 8 hours after...it will lift...12 hours...it might still lift...at one...
That is a labor of love if I ever seen one...
I looked at the entire album...Nice work...I guess the hard top is the donor car? That's a lot of hours...
I had good luck with DPLF...it should...
P400 or P500 dry is definitely the way to go to flatten before a flow coat...one must be careful not to go through the clear though...
I usually leave it alone for at least 3 days...one week if you can afford it is best. The danger is to have the clear lift when you put the new clear on too fast. What happens is that the clear might...
Its hard as helll...Did you try getting the shine back with a polisher? Its a hell of a job in a ceramic clear coat if you scratch it too deep...Do some small tests before you sand the whole car...
...
Etch primer or acid treatment should never be applied to metal receiving filler. It just won't stick...That could be one reason for failure. Apply your filler directly to the metal. Sand with 80...
