My friend had a crack in the hood of his corvette and we used marglass which works really good. You mix it the same as bodyfiller with a hardner.

You first picture of the roof on the drivers side edge. You need to make a feather edge. Sand with 80 on block. In your 2nd picture of the quarter panel. You need the sand the edge all the way...
Thats a great video.
thanx len for sharing i didnt know this
scuff pads come in 3 colors...white, green and red, white is for very lite scuffing, green is for med but not enough to use the red. Th red is for real scuffing.
Hey chevyman i never heard of a glue puller thats new to me. Sounds like it works great rather then then breaking the paint surface.
If there is paint on the surface then you need to remove the paint the bare metal. Get yourself a stud gun and shoot 1 stud in the center. Pull it out with the slidehammer that comes in the kit. Clip...
Just sand it fill it and blend
I use the spitznagel..........they offer different setups for pulling on the studs not only the slidehammer
id bring the truck to a body shop and have them throw it on a frame rack and see if your frame is ok or needs to be pulled before you do any of your body work
That fender in the video might be used and perhaps it had alot of small dents so hes skim coating to whole thing.
Hi len thanx alot for your info. Alot of the info i got from www.evercoat.com if you watch the video len
I also use the power post with floor pots and your right your have to move the car just anchor it down to the floor but i also used the chief the e z liner i guess its what you get use to but your...
I use a nice large size piece of metal to mix my bondo on. When you open a brand a new can of bondo never stir it because it causes air bubbles in it and when you apply the hardner just watch on how...
Im use to the chief e-z liner myself. the set up is very easy. Its easy to measure with it
Your fender is not hard to repair. Im guessing if i did it....it might take me about 20-25min. I love jobs like these...in and out........
I agree with len. Youd save alot of money in the long run by doing it yourself rather then bringing it to a shop. Like len said if you got alot of time on your hands then just make a list a list on...
I need to see pics to see how bad it is so that we can help you.
A tack weld is just a temparary weld used to hold the patch in place while you weld the seam. It also reduces heat buildup.
I agree with you ryan. Thats the best way to pull dents. Just shoot studs and pull then with the slidehammer. Clip the studs after you pull and grind the leftover then mud the rest after you tap down...
Every car that i worked on we never took the back glass out when painting. As far as the jambs just scuff them up. youll be fine.
thanx alot serge....very informative. I saved it
If your blocking bodyfiller always block in a X fashion. Wet sanding primer on the car i always go with the body lines.
Im working on a f-150 crew cab truck at the shop. I used a nail gun on the truck after i ground the paint to make it clean. It works good. Then just mud it.
I agree with serge and thats how we do it at the shop. Bodyfiller always gose over clean bare metal. I put 2 coats depending on what im working on then i cut the skin with 40 on a D. A. and block the...
If i was you as far as the dura block. Just get a general set of different lengths. I never used a cheese grater. I only use 80 on a board for most of my sanding. Just sand in a X PATTERN.
i agree with u serge. If your going to replace the rockers. its a hell of lot easier to replace them as one piece rather then do patch panels. You are already making alot of work by doing the front...
I always say that it come down to surface preperation. The better the surface prep. the better the overall picture
I was reading all thse posts andthe way that i use a mig is the higher that i increase the voltage then that means i need to move fastesr or else ill blow a hole. Now as far as the wire speed just...
You can also use a DA for sanding filler but becarefull. It can remove alot of material in a short amount of time.
wow your mustang came out really nice, beautiful job:rockin:
Hey jeff thats why im just a helper hehehehe . Im still learning
depending on how deep your scratches are get a good board with some 80 and sand in a x FASHION. the scratches should come out if they arent too deep. Epoxy primer is made for bare metal for to give...
If this was my van id just check to see if needs any bodywork and bodyfiller if not just shoot about 3 good coats of epoxy primer and block it down.
The reason why the bodyfiller came off is either because you made it too thick or you mix it well.If you put too much hardner making it to dry faster it causes bubbles. Inside the bodyfiller is still...
A guide coat works good. you can see where your highs and lows are
From your pics that im looking at im guessing that the 1st pic is the damaged 1 and as i scroll down thats the good one. From what i understand when a frame a squared up you have about 2-3...
If ithis car was mine id stick up on a frame rack and re-measure the frame and get it square but like 88gt said theres no way that you can pull it anyway with removing the qtr panel.
I knew a guy one time at the shop i work at. He was old but i watched him and you might laugh but he never used a guide coat he did the highs and lows by eye.
showcar just gotta keep the really wet as you do it and also the bar must be kep wet also becuase what comes off the car and if the car is dry lets say you will scratch the paint. then you have to...
they work really good showcar but you gotta be really carefull on black cars. Another trick i learned i go in the direction of the body lines.
Well id have to agree with phill and dave. Thats the best way, just shooting studs. Get your a bodyhammer and as you pull the stud with the slidehammer just tap around with the bodyhammer. Just clip...
Showcar thats the best best to be taught is from the old timers.....I have alot of respect for them.
As far as the highs and lows you can get rid those real quick with a guide coat and also. you alwys in an X pattern. this helps to prevent making grroves.
being that you painted 2 mons. ago id clay it just to make sure. Clay just takes out any inperfections just do it very lighty!!!!!!! or else have what is known as swirls. from pressing too hard. This...
The way that i drill out rivets is get a 1/8 bit and only drill the top part off so you wanna push the drill lighly!!!!! after the the top comes off get yourself a bodyhammer and hit the rivet thru...
I dont care what kind of body filler you use because it all comes down to one thing. How well you prep the surface.
If any of you guys have a shop in the los angeles area and need an extra guy im lookin for work. Trying to get into a shop and lern with experience.
Hi GUYS
If anyone knows of a shop thats will take on a bodyman helper in the Los angeles area. Right now i can do the basics. Mix and apply and sand bodyfiller, r & i, Thanx guys
Hi Justin
Well I saw your pictures. You have two ways that you can fix that quarter panel. One way is to get a porter power sonce you have access to the back side of the panel. Brace the porter...
