If you call spraying a complete on a Caprice detail work.....
Too bad a gun that is supposed to be so good has to get choked up so much, like you did when you sprayed that caprice, to even get...
So you want someone to compare the amount of overspray and material usage of an Iwata with the fan opened full and air pressure set appropriately to the Sagola that you spray with a 1/2 fan and at...
Read the TDS for your etch. I have yet to see one that says you can apply filler over etch. it's just a no-no. Jay gave you solid advise. by your response it seems you already know it all. However,...
No need to dance on tie toes to make spi or hok work. just like any product you use, all you have to do is read, understand and follow the tech sheet. Honestly, using something like pickelex on an...
Smoothest fender flare ever. but might want to get a little more clear on that lip in the first photo
Biggest flag to me on the buick is they tried to rough out the damage to make it look better.
I know PPG and Akzo Nobel have waterborne clears that are avail in Europe. Not sure how popular they are. Probably be awhile before we see them introduced here in north america
As Jay said, ford UA. or factory pack black will do.
This was painted with Utech 3.8 SS. Ford code UA. $200 gl

thats pretty good. you'll fix the whole side of that camry for $500 in labor and paint. base book time for the quarter is gonna be around 15 hours. thats without any add ons. working at $30 hour (not...
Looks like a copart sticker on the windshield.
Now thats a sweet looking car. definitely blends well with your style of work. Gonna make it a shop car ?
No where near as much as if you bought an Iwata :o

Good stuff there.

Thanks
The car was Sprayed with Utech 3.8 SS
Waterborne does not have the strong solvents that solvent base has, so recoating does not cause a reaction.
poly is alot cheaper than high build 2k. i would block the whole car with 120 or 150 then poly it to lock it all down. reblock with 180-220 then go to your high build.
Sounds like the Tekna Pro-Lite would be the best choice for you. Get the one with the te10 and te20 air caps and it will come with the 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 tips.
Really the whole system is important. from bare metal to clear what you do and what you use will effect the outcome and durability of the job. Specifically with base coats, a quality base will cover...
100% accurate. no way Utech can be compared to nason, omni, limco etc... except in price. in fact Utech SS will blow away RM UNO, Concept, Dupont SS, 22 line in application, Gloss, DOI. The base coat...
If you go BC/CC then the Utech polybase plus is just as good and inexpensive as well. Gallon of red may run you around $200
this was sprayed with utech polybase plus base coat

See if you can get Utech. Its Akzo Noble economy line but is a great paint. inexpensive but the quality is right there with high end stuff.
This car was sprayed with Utech 3.8 SS. 2 sprayable...
yes, remove them. they come of easy and it will be much nicer not having to try and work around them
Hard to give estimates based on pictures alone.
That said, the above quote worries me. if crumple zones are damaged, they need to be replaced not ironed out. if a damaged crumple zone is repaired...
Referring to small parts, not paint type ;)
But isnt that what mini guns are for?
I'll take word of the paint companies and their tech sheets as to what adding activator to base coat actually does. In good faith I will assume their information comes from sound chemistry as well as...
Wonder how the OP made out with his respray
The chemistry behind adding an isocyanite additive to a base coat is the same regardless of the base coat system you use. Why the sudden focus on glasurit products. Is this a glasurit only forum. Or...
2k Urethane primer
Maybe the OP should strip his project to bare metal and start over with Glasurit products so he will be able to take advantage of your extensive knowledge of those products. Just make sure you confer...
Nope. But it doesnt change the fact that adding it makes it an even better product at minimal cost. It doesnt change the fact that other paint companies require it on 3 stage paint jobs. It doesnt...
Thats exactly the drivetrain in this car
Wow. Really. That has to be one of the most ignorant comments I have ever heard.
So tech sheets mean nothing to you and your experience trumps what the manufacture says their products do and dont do?
1. Yes I have. the differences have been described in previous posts. Having base not lift on a sand through is but one of the advantages of activating base coat, and a minor one at that. The fact...
well I'm confused. Not sure if you never used it, or if you used it several times. just guess it depends on which thread I read.
Think I'll just keep using epoxy as high build and activating my base...
No Redo's here ;)
http://autobodystore.com/forum/showthread.php?24100-Glasurit-Clear-%28Len%29&p=211954
Yes. it comes from actually knowing and understanding how, what and why, I do what I do. and not having to back track on the advise I give
Of course. This coming from a guy that didnt even know glasurit had a activator for their base coat( i can pull up an old thread if you dont recall). How can you give advise on the use of another...
Sorry, but I use basf products as well. One coat of diamont or 55 line would wetsand just fine with 600. especially if it dried for a day while waiting for a response on a paint forum. and any spray...
if epoxy is a poor foundation it should be completely removed and replaced with............?
You will be fine either way ;)
So putting high build over sanded epoxy is more stable than putting epoxy over sanded epoxy. please explain the logic in that. and maybe read the TDS for PPG DPLF before responding as well to educate...
What chance? he put one coat of base on. By the time he is done resanding it that coat of base will be gone and he will be left with sanded epoxy. one reduced coat of epoxy as sealer over that is...
If you are happy with your body work then just wet sand the car with 600 grit and use the base as your guide coat. make sure the 320 scratches are gone. reduce your DP50 and use it as a sealer, spray...
Solid color, less trips around the car, looks nicer than BB/CC in black
Are there any Jobbers in NW CT that deal with Sagola and would have a demo gun handy so I can try one out ?
Ding's Auto Sales
So you can identify the kind of towel but are too blind to see the rest. Maybe Len can post some more photos of the off the gun finish with the car in the booth, so all myths can be properly...
Big difference between a 40-50% solids clear and a 70% solids clear.
Not sure how satas are way over priced when I can buy a brand new 4000rp non-digital from my jobber for $30 more than len is...
