Len,
In another thread (http://autobodystore.com/forum/showthread.php?34707-sagola-4500) you mentioned you used the same tip size for everything... what tip size was that?
Thanks!
You got that right ! If you have enough clear on it, you can make it like glass.
So I've been painting on and off for a long while. I always seem to struggle with mixing the right amount of paint. Sometimes I'm tossing a decent amount of paint in the trash. Unfortunately...
I have used DP40 many times as a sealer... shopline epoxy primer doesn't specifically mention using it as a sealer, but they do mention cutting it with acetone at up to 10% RTS. If you have some,...
I like the separate cylinders, I think it tends to cool off better than the ones that are sharing the same heat sink.... Looks like a decent price for what you get too.
I've been using the sharpe air line layout recommendations as a guideline for years. I always have water in my tank, and in the main line. I've had a lot of luck with the Sharpe 606a air...
That sounds like a nice life hack, are you using the 1.3 or 1.4? I'm guessing 1.4.
This is interesting...

I bought a well used shop compressor with bad bearings (worn out), 80 gallon tank with a recently replaced mag switch and original motor. Pump rebuild kit was double what I could get a replacement...
Really depends on what tools you want to use. Some are short burst like an impact wrench, these won't matter much with a 60 gallon tank. Its the more continuous operation ones like a DA,...
I'm not a pro, but I've been using a pressure blaster to media blast (clean rust) projects since the early 90s. I also have a medium size sandblasting cabinet that uses a siphon setup. For 15...
I got my paint gun all setup with the dekups and, holy cow! Really nice being able to put that gravity gun in any position and not lose paint flow. I had sprayed a coat on a flat car trailer (lots...
Seems MS makes multiple lines of single stage polyurethane... crossfire, prism, tec/one... any idea which line you're using?
Thanks!
Yep, I'm already committed to the epoxy primer.
I was planning on using automotive single stage urethane. My supply shop recommended I look at valspar industrial paint. Anyone have experience with that paint? I'd be using the urethane line.
Thanks Len!
Answering my own question, I think its a #43.
Anyone know what dekups adapter I'd need for an old Sharpe Platinum gun? I have 3 that are still in really good shape, would like to be able to spray upside down.
Thanks!
You think the holes the air punch makes are big enough for plug welding?
I've used Matrix before, clears are nice - color match was just ok for me. When I was buying their line (bc/cc), it was really affordable and seemed like good quality. I'd still be buying it, but...
You can also consider PPG. DP comes in a few colors. Also the shopline brand is cheaper and seems like the same stuff, only the scuff window isn't as long.
I like the old usa sharpe guns as well. I picked up a used sharpe detail gun a while back on ebay for cheap. Looks like this:

I tend to use epoxy, rather than self etch. Have you considered epoxy?
Thanks.... Got that bumper done this spring, forgot to post. Painted with shopline single stage urethane. First try with metallic, not a bad color match. Will get around to doing the sport grille...
My 3/8 hose with 1/4 ends is about done. what do you guys recommend, size and brand/type?
That would be called a package tray. Looks like replacements are available and CHEAP ! Here is a link from Jegs:...
Looks like a really nice job!
Switching my 04 Dodge Ram to a sport configuration. I bought a new replacement grille (see pic for example, the arrow isn't relevant). Its shipped bare, just black molded plastic w/o any primer,...
What width of fineline do you recommend for this job?
Have a used urethane bumper cover from a sport option Ram on a 2004 dodge. I have two questions.
1. The air dam is integrated into the cover (see orange arrow), requiring me to tape it off so...
I think he is more focused on increasing his subscriptions as a content provider, than he is focused on profiting by rebuilding salvaged vehicles. Its like shock news, can't get anymore shocking...
Its a 2000 and I'm in the rust belt, so unfortunately not much in the yards worth dragging out. This was my tow rig, so I'm limited in how far I go for a candidate...
Here is the before shot......
Son wiped out my truck due to a snow/ice storm. Luckily he walked off w/o any injury, truck did its job that way.
I put alot of work into restoring this thing; not sure I'm going to be able to...
Its a car trailer... I think the road prep around here is worse than a salt water bath.
Thanks for the input Len.
Unfortunately I am out of the painting weather (no place to do it but outside). I sanded the manufacturers paint (pretty poor coverage), and used a roller to apply some...
Or, find yourself some rust free replacement doors. Then scuff and shoot your paint. If you factor in the time and materials to do the repair, its an easy justification to spend a few hundred on...
Rust belt is rough on trailers.... the 3500 lb axles on my trailer rusted so bad they failed. I bought new axles, and have some new paint on them. But want to protect them from chips that will...
Folded over tape and the first major bend (bottom one) really hid the transition between new and old. First time I tried that tape trick, won't be the last.
Was out of town all week, but got some primer on it tonight... if the weather holds, it'll be white tomorrow - single stage urethane. I'll blend it at the first body crease in the back, not worried...
This right side rocker had similar fitment problems as the left, only I didn't have to cut relief slots in front to shorten it. I spent a few hours just getting it close enough to start welding,...
I had restored the other side of the truck a year or more ago. Time for the right side... Unfortunately the inner rocker was bad in one spot, requiring a patch. I was going to omit the drain...
Back to painting, I took a shot of the stand while I had opportunity. I need to paint it, someday...
All I have is this build in progress picture... Its missing the latch mechanism and wheels...
Here is the link to the manufactured one:

Trying to paint a truck door, entirely, was giving me much trouble. So much so, I spent a lot of time looking at them and found a panel stand that seemed just what I needed. Trouble was, it was...
Ended up using 1500 on my Hutchins 6" 3/32 DA. Followed with Compound and then glaze... looks pretty good for single stage (Omni MTK). I put about 3 coats on it.
...
This is my first time using vinyl, seemed to work well... not bad for less than $10 from eBay. The single stage Omni MTK sanded ok with the 1500 grit. Followed with compound, then glaze.... Its...
I painted a 2000 Dodge Ram tailgate with single stage urethane (Omni MTK). I have a 6" Hutchins 500-H (3/32 throw) DA. I used the DA with 1500 3M sandpaper to the flatter spots to remove trash...
I bought some vinyl decals that look like the original ones that Dodge put on these 2000 Dodge Ram trucks. I shot single stage urethane (Omni MTK). Its a bright white color, the vinyl is black. ...
Day job taking up all my time.... finally started the tailgate job. It was attached with double sided tape. The heat gun and metal putty knife did the job, side affect was the heat made the plastic...
