I heard a headline today that Nissan has developed a new paint that will repair itsself of scratches and small dings. Its supposed to be a couple $100 option on Japanese models that will come to the US in a few years. The paint is supposed to only be good for 3 years. I searched and can not find anything about this...anyone else have any info?

I've been away for a while...I like the new format.

Glasurit had a clear out a couple years ago that they said repaired itself and they may still make it. I tried it on a kitchen table but it didn't do any healing that I could determine so I never used it again. I would imagine that it may make a slight brush mark go away but the table is covered with so may light scratches that it now looks dull.

I've read the press release http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/NEWS/2005/_STORY/051202-01-e.html
Doesn't seem to be much else out about it now.

I've also been looking at something which is already on the market along the same lines called Armorcoat (http://armorcoat.armorauto.com)

They claim it's not available to the average joe but I see Eastwood Company sells it.
