Is it really necessary to use heat lamps to cure your paint job ?

I use a short wave curing lamp. Let the paint flash off for an hour then use the curing lamp and when done I can turn the heat down for the nite.

Willy, the only time a heat lamp is necessary is when the air (and metal) temperature is below 55 degs.f. Ideally the air and the metal temp should be around 70 - 75 degf. Some people will tell you the temperature in the paint area has to be at least 60 deg during and for at least 12 hours after painting urethane paints. My experience of painting many vehciles in cold Michigan is the clear will setup and cure fine at 55 deg. Cooler than that then you're pushing your luck.
