I have the opportunity to pick up a used Curtis two-stage compressor, it has been recently rebuilt and was being used in a bike shop, very little use. It is an older one (1968), as far as I can tell from the Curtis web site the current model that is close in specs is rated at 8.1CFM @175 PSI. Can anyone tell me what approximate CFM this would equate to at 90 or 40 PSI. The comp is a two-stage, 3 hp with an 80 gallon tank.

TIA
Randy

Whats the guy asking for the compressor ? Does the price include the magnetic starter ? Does it have a newer industrial rated 3 hp motor (the motor should weigh around 80 - 100 lbs by itself). Thats a tough call of whether you should but the thing or not. If its a couple hundred dollars then you can't too far wrong. The problem is the CFM, that little pump is going to be running constantly trying to fill that 80 gallon tank with air. Curtis is decent name in industrial air compressors. I had an older 5hp 80 gallon curtis about 25 years ago and it was a decent compressor.

The price is right...free! I 'll pick it up and see how it does. Phil, what part of lower Michigan? Battle Creek for me!
