ok, the book I've been referencing was written before epoxy primers were popular. What is the best method for applying an epoxy primer to a vehicle that needs some body filler? Filler on top or epoxy over? Also, there are a few tiny pitted rust spots in the metal, is there a good chemical I can spray on first to seal or convert them? I'd hate to have those little spots come back to bite me a few years from now. Thanks.
After the paint is gone and the metal is clean spray it with some Picklex 20 then work it in with a scuff pad, wipe off the excess and allow it to dry. After it's dry you can scuff it and apply primer or filler or just leave it alone until your body work is finished then apply your primer. However if the vehicle will see any possibility of weather (rain) you should apply the primer after the Picklex then grind and do the body work and re-prime as needed. It's not necessary to have primer under your filler and, in fact, it can throw in some variables that can work against you.

Thanks. So about that picklex stuff, will it take care of those tiny pits I can't get at? Or do I still need to get it sandblasted?
ha, just found the picklex website. Guess I'll give it a shot. (sounds better than a can of rustoleum...haha)
