I am going to start restoring(try) my 1978 TransAm.
My car has the Hurst T-Tops and was wodering how to support the
body when I take the sub frames of to replace the floor boards and
recoat the subs? Any advice is needed,don't want it to fold in half on me.

You can construct a brace that goes between the A and B pillars to help keep the car straight.



Here's one on a T-Bird.

would this braces hold me and my welder and tools to work on the floor?
i'm a big guy.

If you're going to have the car sitting on stands you can add other supports underneath. I probably won't trust the brace to hold the entire car straight if you're going to be climbing around inside. Add supports where needed by jacking up under a 4X4 to support larger areas while the inside brace helps hold the center from sagging. Contact points where the body is mounted to the frame is a good indication where your supports should be located.
