Hey Len (and others),, I was poking around at the U-pol website, and noticed that they sell 2 different weld-thru primers. One contains zinc, and the other contains copper. Have you used both of these primers?. And which one did you like best?

Interesting, I have only heard of the zinc containing weld thrus. I would love to give the copper a try.

If the purpose of weld through primer is to give corrosion protection to the area, then the zinc based U-Pol makes sense in that zinc is sacrificial to steel in an electrolyte. Copper is just the opposite. Remember school experiment where copper and zinc pieces are placed inside a lemon to make a single cell battery. Does U-Pol say what the two are recommended for?

3M's newer weld through coating in the purple spraycan works well. 3M cured the sprayability and viscosity problem and the stuff welds great.
