Hello... I need to wet sand & buff the gelcoat on my boat...I would rather not do this by hand. Will an Air Advantage help me here??? Have never used one but have seen posts on how great these sander/polishers are...I will do this job by hand if that is the only way I can get a nice job.
Opinions/suggestions please....
THANK YOU MUCH.....:)

To tell you the truth I've never sanded and polished gel coat but my guess is that it would polish very similar to urethane. If that's the case then the AirVantage will save you A LOT of time and effort. Maybe someone else could chime in with more experience.

Gel coat is alot harder than clear. I use 600 to cut then 800 to finish then buff with marien compound. If the gel coat is dull I would buff more than I would sand.

sory, I was thinking of right after you spray. if its dull 1000 would be corse enough.

Thanks C'Man(and Len) for the reply...the boat is very weathered...I tried a small spot with 400wet, then rubbing comp. and it came back real nice. So if I get/use the airvant., 1000 wet will be enough?? I assume the air v will cut much faster???
If there is more than one model air v, do you have a suggestion???
THANKS MUCH...AL:)
You can use the AirVantage and Finishing Film wet or dry. I usually like dry because you can see exactly what you're doing to the surface. If you sand wet you'll need to wipe the water from the surface to see the effect of your sanding.
