Welding helmut for MIG.. Any recommendations?? Do the cheaper Northern Tool auto darking units work as well at the $200 units??

I have a $49.00 Harbor Freight auto darkening helmet that works great for me.

Concur. Only I think I paid 75 for mine on sale a few years ago.

I also have the Harbor Freight $49 helmet. No complaints. If you don't have one around you they have a website.

Check out [url]www.accustrike.com. They sell a welding helmet that you can open and close the shutter with your chin. It's about $75 and money well spent,it gives you an extra hand to work with.

I second the accustrike. I just don't like the auto darkening hoods, I have tried many of them and don't like them. In fact, I got sick of bringing my accustrike home so I bought a new one for work just recently so my old one could come home. :)

I have to say that the new one has couple of improvements. That and being my old one was used for about 12 years regularly, I am blown away at how good this helmet fits and works. I thought my old one was nice, but it was showing it's age. This new one fits like a glove!

I really like the auto-darkening helment when working in tight areas such as fender wells and such. I would not go back to the non-darkening ones I used to use.
