Where to you draw the line between using a touch-up or full size gun? In other words, is a touch up gun too small to do jambs? What's the largest area you would try to spray with little guy?

about a 2ft x 2ft area.

The size of the gun can vary from a little air brush to a fire hose with very small steps in-between. Most popular "touch-up" guns could be limited to objects between the size of a computer's mouse to the size of a 20" video monitor. Of course you can use them for smaller or larger objects but, for the most part, they are best used within similar parameters. Some touch-up/spot repair guns are larger than others and could possibly do an entire panel but, because the pattern is usually smaller and this size gun usually doesn't put out much paint, it's best to keep the surface being sprayed to a limited size. The smaller pattern can easily cause the paint to be applied unevenly and the lack of paint volume can demand more coats which increases the chance of inconsistencies.
I usually spray jambs with a small gun like the DeVilbiss SRI or the Dura-Block 7004GMS especially when the doors are on the vehicle. This helps keep the overspray and bounce back to a minimum and the coating can be applied in a more controlled manor with a small gun. When the panels are off the car a large gun can be more easily used to shoot the jambs.

How do you like the dura-block guns. They look cool!

Every time I use them I like them more. I've been using mostly the 7003GMS and the 007 and find them to be great guns for the price. I just started using the 7004GMS touch-up gun so I'm not totally sold on it like the others but I'll know more after I use it a couple more times.

Len:
After talking with you on the phone today about these Dura-block guns I googled for more information but only came up with one site and it wasn't the manufacturer or distributor.
Anywho they list a 7002GMS MICRO TOUCH UP GRAVITY FEED SPRAY GUN as well as the 7004GMS HVLP GRAVITY FEED TOUCH UP GUN. Can you tell me the difference?
Also while we are at it, I can't find anyone, including my local jobbers, that have nice things to say about Sharpe's Finex line. Would you say that these Dura-Block guns are any better?
Sorry for the Hijack on the thread.

While I haven't seen the 7002GMS in person I believe it's the same gun body as the 7004GMS only conventional not HVLP like the 7004. This is the indication I get from the literature I have but I'll ask the Dura-Block folks the next time I talk to them.
I haven't used the Finex guns myself but I've had some complaints from folks who purchased them because of defects in manufacturing. However, for the most, part they seem to be a decent buy for the money.

Thanks Len:
I should've caught the difference between the HVLP and non-HVLP though.
Can you find out for me what guns come with the (3) gun kit "AF900K" and the (2) gun kit "AF800K"
Greg

The only explanation for the three gun kit is located in the store. These are imported no-name guns but if they spray they should be a good buy for the price. No parts available that I know of.
