Hello all,
When painting a vehicle with good factory base/clear, is it necessary to re-prime the vehicle? Back in the my teen-age days I just sanded the existing factory finish down with 320 grit and shot enamel on it. But now, with BC/CC, which I plan to use, can I do the same? And can I use 320 or do I need finer? Thanks in advance for the help.

Glen

P.S. I painted my 72 Chevy truck with bc/cc a couple years ago and loved this type paint. But, I did a full re-prime with epoxy and surfacer.

You can just scuff and shoot over a good factory paint. If you're spraying a metallic I'd sand it with 400 dry or 600 wet. Be sure to wash with warm soap and water then use a good grease and wax remover before you sand and again after you mask.
