Are the synthetic sealants for clearcoats, such as Meguiar's #21, recommended, a good thing, or no better than wax? Anyone use them regularly or avoid them?
Used to be some people here that swore about a product called Zaino, havent heard anything about it for a while.

I have used sealants for many years. I like them. In my opinion, they protect better than wax, but are usually a bit more expensive than wax...but not much.
If you buy a new car and they convince you to buy the "Paint Protection Package" for $300. to $600., all you bought was an application of synthetic sealant that costs about $30. a gallon wholesale. It takes 4-6 ounces to do one car. Nice profit margin. Eh? :)

I just started using Meguiars retail " NXT Tech wax" earlier this year (it's supposedly the hardware store version of #21) I love the stuff !! While I can't really comment on durability compared to wax yet, but the slickness is amazing. I put some on the wheels of my wifes Taurus that is a bear for brake dust and the dust just wipes right off with a soapy sponge. Also it's really easy on and off compared to any carnuba i've used.
