Over the years the color has worn thin on the top edge of the WW moldings allowing silver to shine through.
I didn' realize until yesterday that the WW moldings on the 94-96 SSs aren't painted. It's actually coated(perhaps dipped) in a plasticized material the same color as the body. It feels kinda like a soft urethane.
What has happened is that the material has deteriorated/shrunk on the top edge and has split. Simply refinishing them isn't going to solve the problem. I'm thinking I'll have to use a 2K flexible urethane repair kit, sand, prime and paint.
Has anyone ever attempted to repair these things? I'm searching for options before I go to the dealer with my hands over my bootie hoping the parts gurus haven't discontinued them.
