I heard from a shop here in NJ today that told me they just raised their rate to $44. I don't know about material charges for insurance work.

You can ASK whatever you WANT....
In MA,Ins. pays between 32 36/hr,body materials considedered overhead,P&M written at @14 per paint hr,they will pay per Mitchell Paint book on a supplement.
Frame,body,mechanical,all the same rate.

Here in Tennessee insurance job shops are getting 36 for body/paint 24 per paint hour for materials..i think around 50 for mechanical and 40 for frame work.

thanks guys...how about general shop material charges ( not paint) ? Usually this is a few dollars times the labor hours, for small stuff like filler, rags, chemicals etc.

We give that type of material away for free. That's the type of influence that the insurance industry has over the shops. They make 'deals' with their partner shops, and the rest of the 'little' folks have to do the same to get work. It's a 'dog eat dog' world out there.

are you serious, yiou give it away for free? Even mechanical work will have a materials charge..for rags, chemicals etc.

How do you guys survive???!!! We get $50 an hr body/paint labor from State Farm and $31 an hr for paint and materials, and at those rates its hard to make money!! We also get $65 hr for frame work... I am located in Rockford Illinois about 45 minutes west of Chicago...
