Yes, you can prime then grind or sand off the primer when you need to work the metal then you can reprime as needed.

Thanks Len, also what makes the filler show thru the primer? I am using Omni and the door came out swell you cannot tell there is filler under the primer but the two rear quaters show. The only diff was the grit I used as the final prep 220 on the door 180 on the rest.

Usually 180 or 220 is fine because the sanded primer will fill the scratches but if the sanding scratches may show through the primer when you use 180. Try guide coating then block sanding it with some 400 wet paper and repriming, you shouldn't continue to see the filler.

If you are just putting filler on you do not need to go to bare metal.

You just need to sand the area with 180 or less to give the filler something to hold on to.

I would think it depends on what filler you are using.. I never put plastic over paint unless its a spot glaze..

That's right, as long as you first clean then scuff the surface of the paint with some 80 or 100 grit you can apply spot putty. Giving the paint some tooth with the sandpaper will allow the spot putty to hold on quite well.

how long after epoxy isapplied can it be sanded? I put it on last night and have a few spots to redo, when I put the sand paper to it the paint wants to stick and gum the paper.

What tempurature are you spraying at and what tempurature are you allowing it to cure at?

I am spraying at about 70°F I try to get it at about 80°F for a few hours before I have to open the door, I was told it is doing what it is suppsed to do and wait a few days for it to harden. I did run the da over it last night so I can get at the problem spot and learned I did not get it quite feathered properly. I would never make it in the business and will say put on 3 lbs and grind of 2 3/4 lbs. Thank the heavens this is not my livly hood, I will stick to wood working for a living. I will be taking the hood and farming it out as I do not have a large enough bank acct to support the filler industry. Thanks for the help it is really appreciated.

Trying to keep 70*°F during the day and let the temp drop to 60°F at night.
