Attached is a photo of the rear of a TR6 I am restoring. The top arrow shows an example of a gap between the fender and body compared to the closer fit indicated by the lower. The fender was originally attached to the body using a non-hardening seam sealer refered to as Dum-dum. The sealer was smoothed between the bady parts, then primed and painted.
For many reasons, my restoration plan does include on body painting of the fenders. So the question is whether to use body filler, lead, or build up the area by brazing or welding. Also, given the body on the this car tends to flex a great deal, so no matter what method is used to fill the gaps, what would be the best, non-hardening sealer to use that would provide good weather proofing and not show with a dark blue paint job?
