There's a lot to disagree with in this story, but some of these old cars are pretty cool!

The list would look a lot different if I made it. They left some out, and I really can't understand how some of these cars even got near the list. ...but at least the GT40 is on there :thumb:

lol, this is a good description of a Toronado. I forgot these cars even existed!

1966 Oldsmobile Toronado

No front-driver—let alone one from Michigan—has ever said "go to hell" more eloquently.

But I still like the old Riviera and GTO better. Those two didn't even make the list. :nono:

Piss me off to no end. ADVERTISEMENTS!

Thank you for the link.

I can't stand that as I clicked for the next picture, it didn't come up UNTIL the new ADVERTISEMENT for that next page had loaded.

My personal favorite from the 1950s was the Studebaker Land Cruser. They were so far ahead of their time they went out of business.

My Personal favorites are the old Rivi, and the Goat.... and the 1st gen Monte Carlo too, but I'm just nostalgic about that one.. it's real hard to choose between the Rivi and the Goat! I guess I'll have to go with the Rivi because it just looks so damn cool when the headlight doors are shut.

I was kinda pissed that neither of those cars made the list, but that Mazda did.. and there was a couple other pos cars that made that list too.. but that's just my opinion...:privateeye:

I only put up with 13 of the 50. For me, it just took TOO long to open.

I had a '63 Riviera (first year made) that I'll scan some pictures of. Black on black of course. Bought it private when I got out of the Army. That was a nice car. Notice the design similarities with it and the 63 vette (front end, top of fenders). Same designer.

And yes, the GTO, always (65 of course) like yours below.

That picture of yours is a great representation of a GTO coming out of the hole and yours appears to be sitting higher, all the way around the way mine was. The sound of the triple carbs will never leave me.

Thanks for the memories.

Yeah Henry, Those old Goats would be at, or damn close to, the top of my list. .... I used to be in that band, "Grand Theft Audio", "GTA", and I thought the GTO would be a cool image to put on fliers. ... I harvested a lot of cool old GTO pics off the internet, and then changed the O to a A.. On the one in that flier, I left the license plate visible and all, in case the guy who owns the car ever comes across that flier... Often, I would change the plate, to put a word on there.

That flier is the only one where I used a moving GTO. All the other ones are parked and looking pretty. But since the other band was called "Grind Method", I thought that picture was perfect :thumb:

I can't believe the Riviera didn't make that top 50 list either... :nono:

Those hidden headlights are so cool..

I looked at all 50 and thought most were just plain ugly . Not a big fan of the racing ones or the imported odd ones .

Interesting but a very bad selection .

Yeah, they left out a lot of good ones for sure..

But that race car, with the big fan to create downforce, sure was interesting! Anything that can dominate a class so thoroughly that it gets outlawed the next season, is definitely worthy of making the list! I never heard of that one before..

Come to think of it, I don't remember seeing the "jet engine Indy car" on there.. another crucial omission imo.

And I still can't see how the Riviera didn't make that list..:nono:

i totally remember that chaparral, i was so into racing at that time. so many cars were playing with ground effects... that was a really interesting time.
back to the list though, i can appreciate many of the selections, but beauty is so subjective that you could never please everyone. they show the lancia strotos, and thats cool, but if you look at a lancia aurelia spider america, its just gorgeous...
so many cars, so little time...
can't complain though, i've had some pretty amazing cars over the years. funny how they were just used cars back then.

I agree about that Lancia... I never saw one before, but it's a beauty! :thumb:

I was too young to remember that Chaperral. I was into wiffle ball at the time.

A friend of mine had a Lancia Flavia I think it was a late 60s model. I was the driver for a road trip from NJ to Florida. Lots of fun.

Since you guys seem to like the old Lancias.. Maybe you'll get a kick out of this vid. I thought it was funny..

I don't know much about Lancia, but I heard they were famous for being pretty fast in a rally race (when they worked), and they were famous for rust too.
