Len/Robert.....anyone in the know......I was considering changing things up around here. Been using 3M products on white wool and black waffels for a while. I see you guys are fans of the Wizards, but what do you follow it up with and what pad selections do you recommend. I am getting such nice work out of that 4500 gun id like to take it to the next level now. Possibly even buy a DA polisher if needed. But I have some work that I need to get out ASAP (as always) so I may not get it bought before this one gets done. What would you recommend?

The Wizards Mystic Cut is usually the only thing we use, it cuts fast and leaves a flawless finish. We've been using the Sure Finish orange and black foam pads for almost all of our cutting and finishing. That black hood we just painted was quite large (Dodge Ram 2500) and had some dust nibs that Mike leveled and polished and it came out perfect. It's rare that we need anything other than the Mystic Cut.

We sometimes use our Makita B6040 Orbital Polisher but it's usually not necessary. If we get a car in here that someone tried to buff and is full of swirl marks we will break out the 6040 and remove the swirls but it's rarely needed on our work.

We usually end up with 2500 if we sand by hand or 3000 Trizact if we finish sanding by machine.

Do you know if the backing pad that comes with the 9227c will work with those 6.5" pads?

No, the backing plate with the 9227 is for an 8" pad you need a 6" backing plate for the 6.5 pads. That backing plate is "G" on the link for the Sure Finish pads.
