I saw where 3M is selling 5000 grit foam disc. , I was wondering if there is really a need for this for colorsanding cars ?

I doubt that 5000 grit would be much of a benefit over 3000 grit. We use 3000 grit on most jobs and the paint starts to get a gloss on it and very little buffing is needed to finish the job.

I'd be willing to try one myself. Unfortunately I don't do enough to justify buying a whole box so I guess I will stick with the 3000! I noticed Autozone and Advance Auto are phasing out the single 3000's now though.

If you would like to try the 5000 grit Trizact I've put them in the store.

Our 3M rep gave me a few sample's to try, but I will stick with stocking the 3000.
Works great but adds a step to polishing.
