Thanks

Looks like a Sata NR-92 knock-off to me, can't see the tip real well though. Sears guns are usually old school technology for the home user, and some of their guns are just older Devilbiss designs. Are you not happy with your Astro LVLP ?

instead of this gun. Sears just does NOT offer a good enough gun for specific autobody material paint application. Too much money in materials to trust a gun basiclly designed to probably stain a deck. Seriously, SEARS automotive dept for tools and especially air tools simply sucks. Hand and electric tools used to be really top shelf 30+ years ago but no more. Henry

I agree with the other guys. That sears gun will make an excellent primer gun IF it comes with a 1.6 - 2.0 fluid tip.

if it won't shoot your paint properly; never is. You get nothing for nothing and only what you pay for...........this just added; AND IF IT'S MADE IN CHINA YOU GET A LOT LESS THAN YOU PAID FOR!!!!!!!!! Henry
i've been finding that there are good and bad products from China just like the good and bad products from the US. You just got to find the one to buy and the ones to stay away from.

Len, my friend Len; Probably the BEST reason (like I said on this board over 8 years ago) to BUY anything FROM YOU is the fact that you personally use just about everything you sell to make a living in your own custom shop. Over the years I have seen you take in products like a kid taking in a stray car. At the same time, you have told us on the board what you found new, the fact you were going to try it and report on it and if it was good you would put it in the store.
Gotta tell you I have read posts by you saying NOT TO BUY something you took on to try and gave reasons why you thought it was not appropriate to offer in the store for any of us.
So, based on all that, I will follow your lead and whatever I need I will read about here on the ABS after you put it to work and report its success.
I know that me, PhilV, SamG, MS-Brian, DZD, Serge, mooch, pot and many of the old crowd are aware you have your own shop and your living is NOT this ABS site. I say that because I wonder how many newbies come through thinking this is only a forum that wants to make a sale.
Anyway, I will take this time to thank you for all that. Too bad you didn't test many other things. Can't tell you how much money I waste buying stuff that just does not fit the purpose for which it was intended. I getting a little tired of it too. Seems more and more junk is on the market these days.
What the hell, I'll add this too. I cringe anytime I think of a paint gun being purchased at Sears, Home Depot or Lowes and the customer asks a question and never really quite gets the correct answer. Henry
Yep, it's the old "YGWYPF" thing again. We've all used those tools made in China that are on sale in Wal Mart, Lowe's, Eastwood or other mass marketers and we toss them after we try them. But there are many really well engineered tools made in China or Japan or India or wherever that are being sold by many reputable US companies. Just because there is a lot of junk out there it doesn't mean that it's all junk. I try to find and sell products that are worth more than the price paid but I still sell some inexpensive products for the person who doesn't want or need the higher priced quality. I also sell some high priced American made products because people want them but when I'm asked for a recommendation I give the person my experience with a tool or material and make a recommendation based on performance versus price not it's birthplace or political affiliation.

Personally Len, I wished you only recommended Republican tools!!
However, you (and the others here) have already saved me money, time and effort (also known as money) by NOT buying products that I might have bought had I not read the information persented here.
As most of you ole timers know and some of us newbies are learning, it costs A LOT of money to get a shop up and running. Any savings are always appreciated in any form they come.
An example is that by just reading a thread here today, I saved about $80 that I was going to spend buying a DA sander at the Depot. Instead, I'll be buying the Airvantage.
Another example is that I would have already spent money on paint for a BMW I'm going to repaint, but have decided to wait for a new compressor and gun because what I have will be too much trouble, and costly, to use.
So, thanks one and all.

Len, weren't you selling a primer gun awhile back that looked nearly identical to that gun? That seems to be a popular model as almost every manufacturer has a gun that looks just like that. I have one from Porter Cable(PSH1) and was told that it was great for the money($100). I got mine new for just $50 but am only going to spray primer with it although I heard it sprayed topcoats decent, I'll just get the DeVilbiss Millenium or Plus for topcoat/clear. The gun has a nice quality feel to it and I'm sure it will spray primer nicely, just make sure you get it for "the right price". I would have purchased a Finishline 3 from Len before I would have bought that gun for $100 though...
Here is my gun(and my unique holder:p ), IDENTICAL...
