saving a severely neglected finish

98 explorer. now, polishingwont help rust, but it sure helped this truck until it gets in for bodywork and new paint.

i shoulda took more pictures, but i think these pics of the door give a good idea of the condition of the rest of the truck. the front of the door was after 1 pass with megs m105 and an orange pad on a porter cable 7424.

i switched to a rotary, wool pad and megs m105 for the 1st pass. then i went to my 7424, orange pad and 105 for 2nd pass, then the 7424, m205 and orange pad for 3rd. i coulda switched to a fiinishing pad and the 205, but the results at this point were pretty darn good, so a coat of glaze and i called it a day, only because it will be comin in for bodywork in a few months.
