I was given a nice 60 gal tank - I can get a 5hp motor for around 200.00 and a twin cylinder pump for 99.00 at Harbor Freight. Seems I could build what I need for far less than cost of new. What other parts will I need ? Is there a good website for parts/instructions ? I'm assuming it's done since all compressor parts are available, I should be able to save alot of money I could use for other supplies!

It will still be less expensive to buy a compressor already done. If you have an air tank, compressor pump and motor then you still have several parts to buy that have to be the correct parts properly matched to that particurlar pump and electric motor. The pump probably comes with a V-belt pulley but the motor will not have a pulley. You will have to buy the correct outer diameter pulley as well as one with the right sized hole in the center to fit the shaft of the electric motor. You will need to buy a pressure regulated kick on/kick off switch built for air compressors, next comes an on/off switch heavy enough to handle at least 30 amps at 220v. Then electrical line and plug. Depending on what motor you buy it may need a magnetic starter box. Large copper line with the right fittings to plumb the air pump to the air tank.
You could buy a similar factory made air compressor for around $400 with everything already correctly matched and assembled WITH a warranty.

And, anyway, your tank can be plugged into the system to create even more reserve which is a great thing...imagine, you buy a 60gal compressor, add your 60gal tank and you end up with a 120 gal reserve...Not bad...if you have the space...
Its even going to be cheeper if you buy one second hand...
