Working on an 81 trans am and I've noticed the fit between these two isn't really that great, specifically at the top corner edge where the fender sits about 3/8ths of an inch or so higher than the surrounding plastic bumper. Not sure if you can put that much filler on the plastic bumper or do you use a heat gun to try and re-mold the bumper to fit the fender?? Ideas?6691
Hopefully I got the attached pic on here right to better explain this :D

Is the bumper or the fender new? Aftermarket parts?

I've never seen a fit quite that bad but you may be able to detach the bumper and push it into position before tightening.

Fenders are supposedly original TA. Problem may just be a 30 year old piece of plastic I guess. There isn't a whole lot of adjustment left to compensate Len. I've heated interior plastic moulding and reshaped it before but this stuff is a lot heavier and I'm not sure if I can even get behind it where I need to in order to reshape it.

You could probably mask off the fender and apply a flexible filler but, because of the thickness required, be sure to give it plenty of time to shrink before you apply primer and paint.
