Thoughts on Kirker Epoxy over Nason 2K

Typically, I usually try to stick with one brand/system for primer, but I was thinking about shooting Kirker epoxy (reduced as a sealer) over the Nason 2K urethane primer that I've used to fill/block. It's something that I've never done, so I'm a little nervous about trying it.

It's really not a matter of costs...if shooting one brand over another is a big risk, I'll stop by my local jobber and pick up a compatible epoxy. Its just that I have the Kirker epoxy laying around and would really like to use it up if I could.

I'm not familiar with those products but my guess is that they could be used in the manor you wish to use them. I would mix a small amount of the Nason 2K, brush it on a surface and allow it to harden. Once the 2K hardens take some of the epoxy reduced like you're going to spray it and brush it on top. You should see no reaction.

I don't think it's an issue at all.
I've used Kirker's epoxy and it's one of the most user friendly
ones out there. Like most epoxy primers, you can put it over
dang near anything. It's the least likely product to get a reaction with.
That's why any epoxy primer is so good as a sealer, it'll lock it down
and prevent reactions.
I don't ever seal my 2K with it, really don't see the advantage.
2K doesn't need it unless you just want a different color primer
on it to paint over.

thanks for the help. I think I'll try a test on a sample piece. Originally I was thinking that I'd just wetsand the 2K and not worry about a sealer, but thought just in case I get some cut through around the edges, it would be a good idea to seal with epoxy before applying the SS.

with epoxy before topcoat is not a bad idea....especially if it goes through to filler...by the way I like kirker epoxy.
