 Hello, need some advice, I have a Nash Metropolitan that has a lot of paint on it and have been using the d/a with 80g, here is what I want to do and that is to use the angle grinder (snap-On) that uses the rolloc pads. I have disc that are 36g and also abrasive discs that will remove the deep scratchs that the 36 g leaves only thing I am worried about is if the metal gets to smooth. And seeing how I do not work in the field of body repair I am a novice.
Thanks all
The 36 grit disks will leave deep scratches that can be filled but may come back to haunt you if the filling materials aren't top quality or you don't remove them prior to filling. You would be better off removing the paint using 80 grit disks THEN applying primer and a light filler coat. 80 Grit will leave the metal looking like the picture below and can be easily hidden with a "direct to metal" primer and a coat of filler primer. Use a light "guide coat" when you sand the filler primer so that you know when the sanding has accomplished it's job of hiding the scratches.
