Hello all.
I have a 66 Ranchero which I bought last winter. The car is very solid originally from Colorado. At some point many years ago, the car was apparently repainted candy apple red with very large gold flakes in the clear coat. The body work was ok at best. The paint looked great from 15 feet away but has blotches and stripping in the color coat. Who ever painted the car was not familiar with painting candy colors at all.

Either way I have been driving it all summer, cruising to the local car shows making big plans to fix the body right this winter!

So I have begun! Just a couple of weeks ago I started removing all the front sheet metal to see what I had to work with...

I was very happy to see that there was no rot at all on any of the cowl or inner fenders. Started by scraping out the old dried up seam caulking, wire brushed the surface rust and seams...

Re-caulked the seams with 3M Automotive seam caulking...

Ready for a good sanding and primer coat.

I have since put the drivers fender back on to tweak the fender to door gap as well as some body work. The drivers fender is 1 of the worst panels on the car, at least until I start working on the rest. May still be some bad surprises ahead. I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks for looking..
