Doing a basecoat, then clear, Small dust specs in the color, If I just sand, won't the "scratches" be maginfied when the clear goes on?
Do I have to repaint the color, then clearcoat?
If defects are in the clear can I sand and reclear the clear?
Thanks

Sand the dust in the base with 1500 or 2000. Then re-paint the sanded area and move out a little from wnere you sanded to get a good blend. If the color is metallic spray over the sanded area on the first coat and then spray a little further away and spray a larger area. I usually do this about three times to get a good blend or you may end up with a dark spot or a place where the metallic will be too intense. You can sand out the dust in clear and buff it instaed of re-applying the clear.
